With starting cornerback C.J. Henderson going on injured reserve this week, the availability of Sidney Jones IV was a big topic for the Jacksonville Jaguars heading into Week 11’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Unfortunately, we now know he won’t suit up for the game as he was listed among the Jags’ seven inactives for the week.

Jones was limited on Wednesday and Thursday, but didn’t practice on Friday with an Achilles injury. As a result, he was listed as questionable on the final injury report, concerning many that he wouldn’t be able to suit up.
With Jones now out, the Jags will start Tre Herndon and rookie Chris Claybrooks Sunday and both will be tasked with covering the dynamic duo of JuJu Smith-Schuster and Chase Claypool. Both players combine for over 1,000 yards on the season, which could mean the Jags’ passing defense (ranked 30th) is in big trouble.
Other notables who surfaced on the inactives list included quarterback Gardner Minshew II, receiver Laviska Shenault Jr., tight end James O’Shaughnessy, and linebacker Quincy Williams. Minshew wasn’t expected to return from his thumb injury yet, although he was listed as questionable. However, Shenault and O’Shaughnessy were ruled out on Friday.
