Injury update: Bills WR Marquez Stevenson out ‘weeks’ with injury

Injury update: #Bills WR Marquez Stevenson out ‘weeks’ with injury:

The Buffalo Bills will be without wide receiver Marquez Stevenson for an extended period.

Head coach Sean McDermott announced on Thursday that Stevenson will miss “weeks.” During the team’s practice on Tuesday, Stevenson was spotted limping off the field with a lower-body injury which the coach described as a foot issue.

Stevenson was a late-round pick by Buffalo at the 2021 NFL draft. He was injured during last year’s training camp as well.

At the end of 2021’s camp, Stevenson was kept the team’s active roster at the end of training camp with the assistance of a backroom deal.

The Bills cut long snapper Reid Ferguson and kept Stevenson. Then when the roster was submitted to the NFL, Stevenson was placed on the team’s injured reserve list and Ferguson was re-signed as the team informed him that was the idea the entire time.

McDermott called Stevenson’s injury “unfortunate,” adding he has had a positive training camp so far in 2022. It will remain to be seen if Stevenson finds a way to return before the end of camp.

In his first season, Stevenson appeared in five games with the Bills, mostly as a return man. He fumbled twice during that spell. Stevenson is battling for the returner role again this year, in addition to a depth receiver spot on the roster.
