The Longhorns are now in desperation mode after dropping consecutive games to Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
They’ll have a chance to right the ship and get back into the win column in Week 9. After a much needed bye week, Texas will travel to Waco to face No. 16 Baylor on Oct. 30 in what is expected to be an offensive showdown.
In Texas’ three losses this season, the opposing team rushed for over 200 yards. Baylor is home to one of the top rushing attacks in the country, and when you couple that with the Longhorns inability to stop the run recently, it could be a long day for Texas defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski.
The Longhorns have to win every remaining game on their schedule if they hope to sneak into the Big 12 championship game. As it stands now, Baylor is No. 2 in the Big 12 rankings, while Texas is in the middle of the pack at No. 5.
For only the second time this season, the Longhorns enter the contest as the underdog. Tipico Sportsbook views Baylor as the slight favorite by 2.5 points.
