Himmelsbach: No Yam Madar or Juhann Begarin for the Las Vegas Summer League Boston Celtics

However, it appears to be less related to the state of the Celtics’ backcourt than “commitments to their European clubs” for the 2023-24 season in their respective leagues.

Fans of the Boston Celtics who make the trek to the Las Vegas Summer League this year are unlikely to see either of the Celtics’ two guards currently stashed in Europe. Per the Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach, “neither Juhann Begarin nor Yam Madar are expected to play for the Celtics’ summer league team this year.”

However, that decision appears less related to the state of the Celtics’ backcourt (which may shift considerably depending on how other elements of Boston’s offseason take shape) than commitments to their European clubs for the 2023-24 season.

For Madar, that likely means a larger role with Belgrade’s Partizan NIS. For Begarin, that means an entirely new club as he leaves Paris Basket for Nanterre 92 of the French LNB Pro A League.
