New York Giants tight end Evan Engram came in as the 42nd-best free agent on the market in 2022 in Gregg Rosenthal’s Top 101 NFL Free Agents list.

The Giants could never unlock Engram’s full potential and he hasn’t been durable, but someone is going to fall in love with those movement skills. I did, and I refuse to take the L.

The former 23rd overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft has really yet to emerge as a star receiving option as a member of the Giants. A combination of injuries (missed 16 games in his first five seasons) and mental errors (drops) have caused Engram to have a mediocre start to his pro football career.

The Ole Miss product has amassed 262 receptions, 2,908 scrimmage yards, and 17 touchdowns in his five years with the Giants. This is a fairly modest start to a career for a tight end and Engram did surprisingly make the Pro Bowl in 2020. However, the Giants expected more out of him after drafting him in the first round.

It seems that New York was simply not the right fit for the athletic tight end. However, whatever team takes a chance on him may get rewarded as Engram clearly has talent that can not be taught.

Engram runs a 4.42 40-yard-dash and has a 36-inch vertical, making him a matchup nightmare if he can put it all together on the field. Hopefully, for Engram and his new home, he can stay healthy and be productive in his sixth NFL season because if not he may not be in the league for much longer.
