The New York Giants have placed veteran offensive lineman Ben Bredeson (knee) on injured reserve. He will miss the next four weeks at minimum.

In a corresponding roster move, the Giants have activated edge rusher Elerson Smith. He had spent the first seven weeks of the season on IR after suffering a foot injury in training camp.

Smith provides defensive coordinator Wink Martindale another pass rush option with Azeez Ojulari also currently on IR.

In addition to those moves, the Giants have elevated safety Landon Collins and tight end Lawrence Cager from the practice squad.

Collins was also elevated last week and played relatively well in his return to the Giants. He recorded one tackle and was in on the game’s final play, which saw Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Christian Kirk come up one yard short in the closing seconds.

Cager was signed to the practice squad on October 18. He adds a healthy body at the position after Daniel Bellinger suffered a factual fracture in Week 7.
