Giants injury report: Devonta Freeman continues to sit out

New York Giants running back Devonta Freeman (ankle) missed practice again on Friday and appears unlikely to play in Week 8.

The New York Giants switched things up a bit on Friday and held their practice outdoors on the field of MetLife Stadium. The decision was made out of an abundance of caution after guard Will Hernandez was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

The good news for New York is that Friday yielded no additional positive tests, meaning offensive linemen Andrew Thomas, Nick Gate, Cam Fleming, Shane Lemieux and Spencer Pulley all returned.

Additionally, offensive lineman Chad Slade and wide receiver Binjimen Victor also returned to the practice squad after being forced to self-isolate.

The news was not as positive for running back Devonta Freeman, who continues to work on the side as the result of an ankle injury.

But on the plus side of things, wide receiver C.J. Board is making his way back after a terrifying hit in Week 6.

Below is the official injury report:

Did not participate: RB Devonta Freeman (ankle)

Limited participant: CB Darnay Holmes (neck), S Adrian Colbert (shoulder), WR Sterling Shepard (shoulder/toe)

Full participant: WR C.J. Board (concussion), OT Cam Fleming, C Nick Gates, OL Shane Lemieux, C Spencer Pulley, OT Andrew Thomas
