Georgia football QB D’Wan Mathis transferring to Temple

Georgia Bulldogs quarterback D’Wan Mathis is transferring to the Temple Owls football program. Mathis is a redshirt freshman at UGA.

Georgia Bulldogs quarterback D’Wan Mathis started the season opener against the Arkansas Razorbacks for the Dawgs. Now, Mathis is transferring to the Temple Owls football program.

Mathis lost his job midway through the game against Arkansas. The former four-star recruit from Oak Park High School in Oak Park, Michigan, will be closer to home now.

D’Wan Mathis was Georgia’s co-winner of the David Jacobs Award in 2019 for overcoming his scary brain cyst. He’s a tough player and will compete for the starting quarterback role at Temple.

Mathis is a mobile quarterback, but he’s not an elite athlete. He didn’t break many big runs during his time at the University of Georgia. Overall, he went 12-30 for 89 yards, passed for one touchdown, and threw three interceptions during his 2020 campaign for Georgia. Mathis is only a redshirt freshman and has time to develop.

This picture of Mathis feels older than it really is. Hopefully he can stay healthy and play well for Temple.
