Gators on top for rising Louisiana WR, first visit scheduled

Billy Napier and his staff are always looking for talent in the state of Louisiana, and wide receiver Michael Turner fits the bill. He’ll get his first look at the Swamp in June.

Things are moving fairly quickly between the University of Florida and John Curtis High (River Ridge, Louisiana) wide receiver [autotag]Michael Turner[/autotag].

The Gators offered Turner a scholarship on April 18 and he’s quickly moved the program near the top of this list. Turner plans to make his first trip to the Swamp on June 24, according to a Gators Online report. This won’t be just any regular visit, though. Turner is using an official visit on Florida.

A month ago, Turner said that Florida was his top program. Things may have changed after other offers came in, but Turner quickly scheduling an official visit with the Gators is a strong sign that UF remains out in front.

The On3 recruiting prediction machine gives the Gators 58.9% odds to land him, with Ole Miss in a distant second place with 18.3% odds.

Wide receivers coach Billy Gonzalez and running backs coach Jabbar Juluke are his main points of contact.

Turner is a four-star recruit by 247Sports’ measure and a three-star receiver by On3’s scale. His industry ranking, which uses a weighted average of the major services to reach a consensus, has him at three stars and No. 401 nationally in the class of 2024. He’s also No. 68 among wide receivers and No. 9 among players from the state of Louisiana.
