Overall: B
Wisconsin was able to extend its winning streak to four games as the Badgers were able to receive contributions from multiple players.
Reuvers got off to a hot start for Wisconsin as he was responsible for scoring 11 of the first 17 points for the Badgers. When Reuvers was subbed out for the first time in the game it was Pritzl who stepped up as he scored five of Wisconsin’s next nine points while Reuvers was taking a rest.
Pritzl, like he has been throughout this year, was active on both sides of the floor. After Potter’s nine rebounds Pritzl’s four rebounds tied for second on the team with Aleem Ford.
While D’Mitrik Trice didn’t reach double figures in scoring he did post a career high in assists with nine as five of them came in the first half. Trice did finish with two turnovers both coming in the second half. But Trice did score five straight points for Wisconsin late in the game as the Scarlet Knights were trying to make their comeback. Three of the five points came from the free throw line while his made jumper pushed Wisconsin’s lead to 75-68 with 1:51 to go.
Wisconsin finished the game with 11 turnovers as four different Badgers had at least two. Tyler Wahl led the team with three turnovers. Rutgers turned Wisconsin’s miscues into 12 points as eight of them came in the second half.
Game MVP: Micah Potter
Potter who missed the first game against Rutgers showed he could have helped in the first meeting against the Scarlet Knights if he was eligible to play. Potter was able to help shore up some issues that hurt Wisconsin in the first game primarily limiting Rutgers on the glass. Potter was active on the glass as seven of his game high nine rebounds came on the defensive glass. Not to mention he hit some critical three’s too. Potter was responsible for Wisconsin’s last six points of the first half. Potter was able to knock down a three right before halftime, which came off of an offensive rebound by him following a miss by Ford to give Wisconsin a 13-point halftime lead. Not to mention after Rutgers cut Wisconsin’s lead to 10 points Potter responded by making two consecutive three’s in a 24-second span.
