Overall: D
The Badgers needed to find a way to go on a run in the second half but it never occurred. Wisconsin could never get the deficit back down to single digits again.
Minnesota was in control of this game from the start as the Badgers were hoping that Minnesota’s hot shooting would eventually end. It did as they started to cool off in the second half but with Wisconsin struggling to generate an offensive rhythm the Badgers couldn’t make a dent against Minnesota.
The Badgers gave themselves chances on the offensive end by generating second chance opportunities for themselves and taking care of the basketball (seven turnovers). Simply put the hole Wisconsin dug themselves in toward the end of the first half was simply too much for Wisconsin to overcome.
Ford a second consecutive game Ford was hunting for his shot. He may not have had the same kind of offensive success like he did against Michigan State but he’ll need to maintain that aggressive mindset for the remainder of the season in order to help make sure Wisconsin’s offense has success.
Wisconsin finished the game with 22 points in the paint compared to Minnesota’s 24. One of the players for Wisconsin to have success in the paint was Potter as he was the only player to score off of Wisconsin’s bench with 11 points and he also hauled in a season high 15 rebounds, which includes five offensive rebounds.
Game MVP: D’Mitrik Trice
Trice was one of four Badgers to reach double figures with 10 points (4-for-13) as he once again did well of setting up his teammates to have success on the offensive end finishing with six of the teams nine assists. He also registered five rebounds too.
