Four offensive recruits Texas should push for after Maalik Murphy’s commitment

Recruiting momentum is real and Texas must be able to capitalize after landing Maalik Murphy. Here are four prospects Texas should push for.

Evan Stewart – Wide receiver

Another cannot miss in-state prospect is wide receiver Evan Stewart. The Frisco Liberty product is a four-star wide receiver and has been a priority for the Longhorns long before Steve Sarkisian’s staff took over for Tom Herman.

With how dangerous Stewart is across the entire field, watching him play in a Sarkisian offense is something Texas fans should dream of. His 6-0, 175-pound frame mixed with his proven speed on the track makes him the ideal wide receiver for the future. An offseason of training in Austin to fill out and get even faster could see him project as one of the biggest threats in the country.

Alabama and Oregon seem to be the two schools that Texas is going to have to fend off. Stewart tweeted out that his recruitment was shut down in late January and was rumored to have a video ready to announce his commitment. The tweet was later deleted and nothing has been indicated since. If Andre Coleman is able to close on any of the top wide receivers Texas is targeting, it needs to be Stewart.
