Four offensive recruits Texas should push for after Maalik Murphy’s commitment

Recruiting momentum is real and Texas must be able to capitalize after landing Maalik Murphy. Here are four prospects Texas should push for.

C.J. Williams – Wide receiver

One of the big names out of California that Maalik Murphy will be looking to bring with him to Austin is C.J. Williams. The four-star wide receiver comes out of the talent-rich Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana. On the 247Sports composite, Williams is the No. 4 receiver in the country.

During his sophomore season, Williams was the third leading receiver for Mater Dei, hauling in 50 receptions for 684 yards and four touchdowns. His junior season was cut in the fall due to COVID-19 but at least two games are on the schedule according to MaxPreps. Williams possesses every skill you could want in a wide receiver but does not have the breakaway speed we know Sarkisian loves.

When setting up the offensive board for the 2022 class, Williams was one categorized as a dream get. He and Murphy have expressed interest in playing with each other at the next level, giving Texas’ offensive staff an excellent selling point to other national programs across the country. Landing Williams would be an excellent win, but there is still work to be done.
