Four offensive recruits Texas should push for after Maalik Murphy’s commitment

Recruiting momentum is real and Texas must be able to capitalize after landing Maalik Murphy. Here are four prospects Texas should push for.

Kelvin Banks – Offensive tackle

Once you got the quarterback, you need to be able to protect him, right?

With how poor Texas’ offensive line recruiting was during the 2021 class, the position group has become a priority during the 2022 cycle. Not only the number of players taken, but the quality is important as well. Landing four-star Kelvin Banks would be a huge start.

Banks ranks as the No. 4 offensive tackle in the country and the top in the state of Texas. He is listed at 6-5, 300-pounds and will have the ability to play anywhere across the line at the collegiate level. He plays both tackle positions for Summer Creek High School and could project as an early starter in Austin.

Although he was once committed to Oklahoma State, the Longhorns and Texas A&M seem to be the biggest players in Banks’ recruitment. With how important the offensive line is going to be in the 2022 class, Banks could be classified as a cannot miss in-state prospect, especially when going head-to-head with the Aggies. Locking in Banks before the summer would be Kyle Flood’s biggest win of the entire cycle.
