We can’t get enough of these stories, and hopefully, you feel the same. We’ve heard about several members of Buckeye Nation giving back to their communities during this horrible COVID-19 pandemic. There’s Chris Spielman’s EBay auctions, the OSU coaches and AD’s donation to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank, Denzel Ward’s efforts to pay monthly expenses for COVID-19 victims, and more.
Now, former Ohio State and current Cincinnati Bengal defensive end Sam Hubbard has gotten into the mix as well. He has been working on a campaign to donate to the Freestore Foodbank near his hometown of Cincinnati. Many have gotten behind the effort, so much so that over $86,000 has been raised to date.
That’s enough to feed 250,000 meals for those in need during this extraordinary time we are in. Hubbard matched the first $9,400 in donations himself, but more importantly helped drive the effort.
A HUGE thank you to @Sam_Hubbard_ & all who donated to his campaign for raising $86,610 to feed our neighbors here in the tristate! Thank you to @TriHealth @Bengals @Carlos_Dunlap @rhoback and @queencitypeople for joining the match! This will help provide over 250,000 meals! pic.twitter.com/dYZYaswsw3

It wasn’t just Hubbard that had a hand in raising the money. The Bengals, teammate Carlos Dunlap, TriHealth and an anonymous donor from Moeller High School are each matching $9,400 worth of donations as well.
This isn’t the end either. The campaign continues. We’ll keep an eye on where this goes and continue to check in on what’s happening in the Queen City.
