Former Ohio State corner Jeff Okudah injures hamstring in Lions’ preseason camp

Former Ohio State and current Lions cornerback Jeff Okudah has reportedly suffered a hamstring injury based on the team’s injury report.

Former Ohio State and current Detroit Lions cornerback Jeff Okudah has reportedly injured his hamstring during the team’s preseason camp.

The news came by way of the team’s injury report released Thursday and appears to be a relatively minor one. And while Okudah might be the future of the position on the team, his reps in practice and the unofficial depth chart the team released has him coming off the bench behind five-year veteran Justin Coleman anyhow.

Now, instead of being thrown straight into the fray, it looks like Okudah will be able to ease his way into competition at the next level even as he gets to being 100 percent. He was listed as limited and it is unclear how much the tweak will keep him out of action on Sunday for game one.

We’ll obviously keep an eye on this and all other NFL happenings with former Ohio State players as the season kicks off this weekend and beyond. For now, here’s to just hoping Okudah is back to himself real soon.
