The Ohio State football program has been an NFL defensive line factory over the last few years. The Bosa Brothers, Sam Hubbard, Chase Young, and Cameron Heyward are some that have come out and made a pretty big splash at the highest level. And it’s why some of the top defensive line prospects continue to give Larry Johnson and OSU a look, without any signs of it slowing down anytime soon.
I mean the Buckeyes have freshmen J.T. Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer locked and loaded in the pipeline, and we might very well see both Zach Harrison and Tyreke Smith be monsters off each edge as veterans this season that have a possibility of cashing in during the 2022 NFL draft.
You’d have to think that at least had something to do then with the latest 5-star defensive end including Ohio State in his top five. At 6-foot, 5-inches, and 260-pounds, Shemar Stewart is ranked as the No. 3 defensive line and eighth overall prospect in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
And he just announced the Buckeyes in a top-five that also includes Clemson, Georgia, Miami, and Texas A&M.

The in-state ‘Canes appear to be the modest leader for the Opa Locka, Florida native at this point, but we all know how this song and dance works in the high-stakes game of big-time college football recruiting. OSU would love nothing more than to get Steward on campus and pull out all the stops.
There’s been more than one kid visit the banks of the Olentangy without Ohio State as the leader and decide to wear the scarlet and gray when the ink hit the paper.
Oh yeah, and as a sign of the times, and something you’ll probably be seeing more of, Stewart’s announcement was complete with a website launch and pretty aggressive logo. It looks cool, and that’s about all you need to know without trying to figure out what he’s going for here.
