The Big 12 conference announced its 2020 preseason All-Big 12 football team on Thursday.
These particular selections are chosen by media representatives that cover the league. Individual awards were also named, but no Texas player received the offensive, defensive, or newcomer of the year award.
Quarterback Sam Ehlinger was the lone player at his position selected to this particular team while left tackle Sam Cosmi was one of five offensive lineman included. On the defensive side, Texas had two defensive backs selected in Caden Sterns and D’Shawn Jamison. Jack linebacker Joseph Ossai is poised for a breakout season and was one of three linebackers included.

Texas is tied with Oklahoma at the top of the conference in regards to five players from their respective program being selected. The list is quite realistic in terms of Texas’ top players, but an argument could be made to add offensive lineman Derek Kerkstetter.
Kicker Cameron Dicker could also be mentioned, as he was named a first-team preseason All-Texas selection by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine and listed as a second-team All-Big 12 preseason selection by Phil Steele in 2020.
Regardless, it’s an impressive haul for the Longhorns.
