It’s commonplace in the NFL, and sports in general, for a player or coach to compliment their upcoming opponent. There’s no reason to add fuel to their fire before you face them.
But sometimes you get just that little bit extra. Eric Bieniemy showed exactly that toward Bills linebacker Matt Milano.
Milano is one of the NFL’s best at his position. Bieniemy is in his first season as the Commanders offensive coordinator, but he held that same position with the Chiefs for years prior to taking the job in the nation’s capital.
Having game planned for Milano numerous times, Bieniemy knows what to expect… and boy, does he ever have respect for Milano. For more than a minute the OC raved about the Bills defender during a press conference this week.
“First of all, let me give Mr. Milano his flowers,” Bieniemy said. “He is a beast. I am a fan of his.”
Let’s let Bieniemy do the rest of the talking in the clip below:
I've never heard an opposing coach talk about a player the way Eric Bieniemy does about Matt Milano.
"well first off let me give Mr. Milano his flowers…💐"
