FINAL: Texas holds on against TCU, 29-26

The Longhorns are 9-1 after a Week 11 scare.

The Texas Longhorns improved to 9-1 on Saturday. And while it was harder than it had to be, the team earned a win over the TCU Horned Frogs.

The Longhorns held a 26-6 lead at halftime. From there, the team stopped attacking the Horned Frogs with the same intensity on both sides of the football. As a result, TCU came within three points of the Texas lead to bring the score to 29-26.

The game for Texas breaks a nine-game streak of scoring 30 points or more. The offense was just four points away from reaching that mark at halftime but appeared uninterested in putting many more scores on the board in the second half.

Xavier Worthy led the receiving attack with 10 receptions for 137 yards. Fellow receivers Adonai Mitchell and Ja’Tavion Sanders combined for seven catches for 108 yards and a touchdown. Mitchell sealed the game with an impressive 35-yard reception to ice the game away.

Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers completed 22 of 33 pass attempts for 317 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Despite it all, the Longhorns stand alone atop the Big 12 title race. Texas will look to secure its 10th win next week against the Iowa State Cyclones.
