Fantasy football: Where to draft Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp

Analyzing Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp’s 2022 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

There was a time when fantasy football drafts began with 15 of the first 20 picks being running backs with league teams jumping all over each other to make sure they got a top running back or 2 before they dried up. Players like Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp has done a lot to change that.

Below, we look at Cooper Kupp’s 2022 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

The goal of any fantasy wide receiver is to stack up as many 100-yard games as possible. In his first season with QB Matthew Stafford, Kupp averaged 9 catches for 115 yards and 1 TD a game — a standard that other receivers may be chasing for years to come.

Cooper Kupp’s ADP: 5.10

What Kupp accomplished last season ranks with the great wide receiver seasons of all time and he will likely be pushing those same numbers again this season if he and Stafford are healthy and on the field.

There are only 3 wide receivers viewed as 1st-round prospects and Kupp leads the way, followed by Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings) with an ADP at 5.69 and Ja’Marr Chase (Cincinnati Bengals) at 9.03.

Where should you draft Kupp?

With the exception of RB Jonathan Taylor of the Colts, you could make a case for Kupp to be drafted anywhere after No. 1. Because the value of running backs in fantasy drafts is so high, there will be some fantasy owners that will feel honor-bound to take a running back in the 1st round because having to wait until the back end of the 2nd round to land a RB1 is a long time to wait with a lot of players coming off the board.

That being said, few (if any) running backs posted the consistent weekly fantasy numbers Kupp did and, although it may require the fantasy owner who selects Kupp to take running backs with the next 2 picks at a minimum, if he comes close to his 2021 numbers, it will be worth it.
