New York Giants TE Evan Engram did some things well last season, and other things didn’t go so hot. Below, we look at Engram’s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.
Engram played 16 games for the first time in his career last season, and that was certainly a positive. He also had triple-digit targets (109), and it was his most since posting 115 targets in his rookie season of 2017. While that’s all well and good, he also had career lows with just one score and 10.4 average yards per reception.

Engram finds himself just on the outside of the TE1 rankings looking in, or a fantasy reserve for now. However, that could all change in a hurry once the season starts – especially if he factors into the mix more in the red-zone offense.

Where should you take Evan Engram in your fantasy football draft?
If you look at the numbers of Detroit Lions Pro Bowl TE T.J. Hockenson, widely considered a Top 5 option at his position, they are nearly mirrors of Engram, except one huge area. Hockenson had 67 grabs, 101 targets and 723 yards, which was fairly close to Engram. However, the Detroit tight end had six scores while Engram had one.
If Engram can find the end zone a little more, similar to his six touchdowns in his rookie season in 2017, he isn’t that far off from not only being a must-start fantasy option. That’s how interchangeable the tight ends are from a fantasy perspective from seventh through 16.
Engram will have to contend with new highly paid WR Kenny Golladay and RB Saquon Barkley for targets. But there is enough pieces of the pie for Engram to make some noise.
Take Engram near the end of Round 10, and he could even be drafted as a TE1, as I’d personally rather have him over the more highly ranked Tyler Higbee of the Los Angeles Rams. Green Bay Packers TE Robert Tonyan‘s fantasy appeal, also ranked ahead of Engram, could also crater if the Aaron Rodgers situation goes south. Engram is a safer play than those two in my eyes.
