Fantasy football draft: Where to target Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen

Analyzing Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen’s 2021 fantasy football ADP and where you should target him in your drafts.

Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen was the runner-up for the NFL’s MVP award last season. He looks to take another step toward superstardom in 2021. Below, we look at Josh Allen‘s 2021 fantasy football average draft position (ADP) and where you should draft him.

Allen went from a very good player to a star in his third NFL campaign, completing 69.2 percent of his passes, tossing 37 touchdowns while running for eight more. In fact, he has rushed for eight or more scores in each of his NFL seasons. He also led the Bills to an AFC East Division title.

Allen has been going late in the first round or early in the second round of all fantasy leagues, and he has been the second QB off the board behind Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes.

What sets Allen apart from Mahomes is his ability to run the ball and score plenty of touchdowns. While Allen doesn’t have the rushing yardage Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson posts, he actually scores quite a bit more.

Where should you take Allen in your fantasy football draft?

I have never been a huge fan of drafting a quarterback early, but there haven’t been super dual-threat quarterbacks like Allen and Jackson.

Allen can put up monster numbers through the air, but he also scores like a running back. It’s an amazing combination, and therefore worthy of your first- or second-round pick. However, don’t wait long, as he won’t be available past the first couple of picks in Round 2.

The addition of WR Stefon Diggs last season really gave Allen a star on the outside and downfield. WR Cole Beasley was outstanding on the short-to-intermediate stuff.

There just aren’t a lot of holes in Allen’s game, the offensive line is pretty stout and Allen might be the best option to run the ball in the red zone. There isn’t much to dislike about Allen.

While running quarterbacks generally come with a lot of injury risk, Allen is smart running the ball. His rushing totals have actually decreased in each of his first three seasons, and his average yards per carry have decreased as well. But the trade-off has been more passing yardage, a much better completion percentage and more touchdowns through the air.

Allen is a fantasy stud who can lift your team to a championship. It’s hard for an old-school fantasy player to change a long-term drafting strategy, but Allen is making a lot of veteran fantasy players re-think the way they pick on draft day.
