XXIX: 49ers 49, Chargers 26
Steve Young had the game of games in the destruction of the Chargers. The BYU great threw six TD passes and was 24-of-36 for 325 yards. The Niners had three players throw passes. Bill Musgrave completed his lone throw and Elvis Grbac’s only pass was incomplete. The Chargers started Stan Humphries, who was 24-of-49 for 275 yards with a TD and two picks. Gale Gilbert came on and completed 3-of-6 passes for 30 yards.
