Two-time Super Bowl champion and MVP Eli Manning joined northjersey.com’s Art Stapleton this week on the newest episode of the ‘All In’ podcast, chatting about everything from football to pranking his kids (and getting pranked in return).
“You kind of learn which ones can take it, which ones can handle it. You know, the … six-year-old doesn’t take a prank all that well — shockingly,” Manning said with a laugh. Turnabout was fair play, however, as Manning’s 10-year old daughter, Ava Frances, got Dad with the ol’ “heated car seat in the summer” trick on a recent drive.
“She held it. She didn’t break and give it up and start laughing or say, ‘hey, is your back hot right now?'” Manning said. “She kept pretty straight-faced the whole time.”
Manning discussed life after retirement, including his new (and wildly popular) Monday Night Football broadcast with brother Peyton, but also took the time to reflect on his career and the iconic SportsCenter commercial he starred in with the whole Manning family.
The Giants are retiring Manning’s No. 10 jersey at halftime during Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. He’ll also be added to the Giants’ Ring of Honor.
The Giants have struggled so far this season, getting off to an 0-2 start with losses to the Denver Broncos and the Washington Football Team. Sunday presents an opportunity for New York to jump into the win column as the 0-2 Atlanta Falcons come to the Meadowlands. As of Friday morning, the Giants are favored by a slim 2.5 point margin, per Tipico.
