Eight thoughts on the 2020 schedule

The dominant Alamo Bowl victory has fans everywhere excited about Texas next season. Here are eight thoughts about the 2020 schedule.

Baylor and TCU will be wild cards for 2020

Much like most seasons in the Big 12, what Baylor and TCU are able to do effects what the conference looks like. In 2019, the Bears had one of their best seasons ever, going 11-1 in the regular season while making the Big 12 championship game. They even got an invite to the Sugar Bowl. While they lost both of those games, Baylor was still a great team in 2019.

As for TCU, they got a win over Texas but struggled for most of the season. Finishing 5-7, the Horned Frogs were 1-4 on the road in the Big 12, with their only win coming at the expense of Texas Tech.

Going into 2020, these two teams have a chance to decided how to Big 12 plays out. If Baylor is able to keep hold of Matt Rhule, there is no reason they cannot repeat something similar to what they did in 2019. As for TCU, Gary Patterson is able to turn a team around at any point, as he has done it in the past for the Horned Frogs.

Texas gets both of these teams at home next year, both being in the final five games of the season. Going 0-2 on the road this year, wins over Baylor and TCU would have changed the entire perception of the Longhorns’ season. Getting them in Austin is critical and Texas must take advantage.
