Eight thoughts on the 2020 schedule

The dominant Alamo Bowl victory has fans everywhere excited about Texas next season. Here are eight thoughts about the 2020 schedule.

Brock Purdy will be the best QB Texas faces all year

In a conference that has produced some great talent at quarterback throughout the years, it will more than likely be a down year for the position in the Big 12 for 2020. When looking at the schedule top to bottom, you see a bunch of young quarterbacks. Some of them have experience, but most of them do not.

Those who do not have that much experience include the Longhorns’ two biggest opponents of the season, LSU and Oklahoma. Both are going to be starting brand new quarterbacks this season (barring a transfer). Myles Brennan for the Tigers and Spencer Rattler for the Sooners seem to be the favorites. Those two guys very well could be amazing quarterbacks, but it is hard to say without seeing them play significant snaps.

Bring in Brock Purdy, who is going to be starting for the third season at Iowa State. He had an outstanding year in 2019, throwing for 3,982 yards and had 27 touchdowns. This season against the Longhorns, he threw for 354 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception while completing 62.5% of this throws. His improvement for year one to year two was outstanding and it only may get better in year three.

Other quarterbacks like Spencer Sanders of Oklahoma State and Charlie Brewer of Baylor are going to be good next season, but not to the level of Brock Purdy. Getting the Cyclones at home, Texas fans will be able to watch him in person.
