Ed Orgeron’s team to face off with his son Cody on Saturday

LSU set to face off with Ed Orgeron’s son Cody and McNeese State on Saturday night.

After the LSU Tigers lost their season opener to UCLA on Saturday, focus shifts back to Baton Rouge. The team now prepares for an in-state class against McNeese State. Their quarterback is someone that head coach Ed Orgeron knows very well, his son Cody.

This will be McNeese’s second game since the 2019 season, they did not play a year ago due to the pandemic. Last week the Cowboys lost a close game to West Florida, 42-36. In that game, the younger Orgeron passed for 367 yards while completing 31 of 47 passes with two touchdowns.

In his career, Cody Orgeron has thrown for 4,967 yards with 38 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He will have his biggest test on Saturday facing his dad’s team. Most expect a massive blowout in this game that isn’t expected to be too competitive for the Tigers.

In September of 2019, Orgeron faced a Power Five team in Oklahoma State. They lost 56-14 while Cody threw two interceptions in that game. Now he will be tasked with trying to move the ball against the LSU defense that was embarrassed on Saturday night in Pasadena.

Despite playing in the same state, this is only the second time that the Cowboys and Tigers will face off in a game. Back in 2010, they met in Baton Rouge, the Tigers won that contest 32-10.

The game is set for a 7:00 p.m. CT kickoff at Tiger Stadium.
