It’s a great time to be a Longhorn.
Texas athletics are on fire right now with 12 different teams ranked within the top 25 nationally. Four of those teams are ranked No. 1 in their respective sport.
While Texas is widely considered a football school at the moment, it’s the other sports that have been bringing home the trophies recently. Last year, the Longhorns took home the Director’s Cup for the first time ever, which is awarded to the nation’s top athletic program.
Three national titles, 13 Big 12 titles and 13 NCAA top-10 finishes played a large part in Texas winning the Director’s Cup last season. The momentum is still rolling into this year, as the Longhorns are set up to compete for the award yet again.
While it’s not too surprising to see the men’s and women’s swimming and diving ranked high due to their recent dominance, it is impressive for the baseball program to begin the season at the nation’s No. 1 team.
