Drew Peterson is impressing the Miami Heat in NBA summer league

No guarantees, but Drew Peterson is improving his odds of sticking with the #Heat. They like what they’re seeing. #USC

Drew Peterson is having himself a summer. The USC standout was not picked in the NBA draft. The Miami Heat picked him up after the draft ended on an Exhibit 10 deal which gave Peterson the chance to earn a two-way contract.

Peterson’s performance in the NBA summer league is improving his odds of getting that two-way contract. The former Trojan is shooting 57 percent from 3-point range and providing smart, efficient play at both ends of the floor.

That two-way contract hasn’t been agreed to, but the chances of striking a deal are better than they were two weeks ago. Peterson could stick within the Heat organization and benefit from Miami’s elite player development methods.

We all know that the Heat have a sterling track record with taking undrafted players and turning them into meaningful pieces on NBA Finals rosters. Drew Peterson could be the latest example of the Heat’s ability to maximize resources and unearth hidden gems.
