Doc Rivers likes what he sees from Tyrese Maxey, James Harden duo

Philadelphia 76ers coach Doc Rivers likes what he sees from Tyrese Maxey and James Harden after camp.

CHARLESTON, S.C.–The Philadelphia 76ers wrapped up training camp on Sunday afternoon in Charleston after getting a lot of preparation work done for the 2022-23 season. They were able to integrate their new pieces and grow their backcourt pairing.

The tandem of James Harden and Joel Embiid is important, but Harden’s growth with Tyrese Maxey is almost as important. The two are going to cause a lot of problems on the perimeter with their shot creation and their passing.

As they wrapped up camp on Sunday, coach Doc Rivers was happy with what he saw from the two guards.

“Oh, they were good,” said Rivers. “Really good. As the week went on, you can see more and more, Tyrese exerting himself, understanding the spots, and you can also see James getting him the ball in his spots so that’s gonna be fine.”

The backcourt only had 21 games together in the 2021-22 season. In a season with title aspirations, the Sixers need Harden and Maxey to continue developing as a tandem.
