The Detroit Lions have declared their Game Day inactives for their Week 7 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.
Once again, the Lions elected to elevate tight end Isaac Nauta — the second week in a row — meaning they enter today’s game with 54-players on their roster, and because they have kept eight offensive linemen on their active game-day roster, they are now eligible to expand their roster from 46- to 48-players — meaning they only need to declare six players inactive (instead of the traditional seven).
Here are those six players.
Lions’ inactives list
- CB Desmond Trufant (hamstring)
- S/LB Miles Killebrew (personal issue)
- QB David Blough
- RB Bo Scarbrough
- WR Quintez Cephus
- IOL Logan Stenberg
Trufant was once again ruled OUT on Friday, meaning the Lions starting corners will be Amani Oruwariye, Jeff Okudah, and Darryl Roberts (in the slot).
It was reported on Saturday that Killebrew would miss this contest due to a non-COVID-19 personal issue. No further details are available at this time.
Blough was signed to the active roster last week to prevent him from being poached from the Dallas Cowboys and his inactive status isn’t surprising given he is the team’s third option at quarterback.
Scarbrough was just activated to the roster yesterday, so he may still need time to acclimate, but the Lions three-back rotation is rolling right now, so there may not have been snaps available anyway.
With Nauta active, the Lions once again made Cephus inactive, opting for a third tight end over a sixth wide receiver.
Stenberg is currently ninth on the offensive lineman depth chart and with the eight ahead of him healthy, that gave the Lions enough offensive linemen active to met the rule requirements to expand the game-day roster, and therefore the team didn’t need him available this week.
