Dallas Jesuit offensive tackle chooses Baylor over Texas

Texas is not having great luck targeting offensive lineman out of the 2021 recruiting class.

Texas fell just short of another offensive lineman target.

On July 31, the Longhorns extended an offer to three-star offensive tackle Ryan Lengyel. Texas quickly became a favorite to land the 6-foot-5, 275-pound prospect as a crystal ball prediction was entered by Horns247’s Mike Roach just hours later in Texas’ favor.

Lengyel attends Jesuit, a college-preparatory school in Dallas, but has notably grown up watching the Longhorns and is very fond of the program.

Baylor offered Lengyel just three weeks prior to Texas, but Air Force, Arkansas State and FIU were also in the running. When he suddenly announced his commitment on Saturday night, many were surprised that it was not to Texas.

The Longhorns have just two offensive lineman commits in their 2021 recruiting class right now. Three-star center Michael Myslinski committed to Texas just days ago, while four-star offensive tackle Hayden Conner announced his commitment in July 2019.
