Crystal Ball Predictions: Texas emerges as favorites for transfer LB

247Sports’ Crystal Ball Predictions now list Texas as the favorites to land transfer linebacker Tony Fields.

Texas is expected to land a highly coveted graduate transfer at a significant position of need.

Arizona linebacker Tony Fields entered the transfer portal on July 15. He vocally stated that he didn’t see any progression from the program and he wanted to make a business decision in order to do what’s best for him as a player.

Fields started all 37 games for Arizona over the past three seasons. He led the team in tackles as a true freshman and was the Wildcats’ second-leading tackler in each of the last two seasons.

In 2019, he compiled 94 tackles, five tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, four pass breakups and a forced fumble. Fields’ production and experience at inside linebacker is exactly what Texas is lacking.

After a reported visit to Austin on Wednesday, the first two Crystal Ball predictions were entered by Horns247 Insiders Mike Roach and Nick Harris. It now reads 100 percent in the Longhorns favor.

The other two programs left in the running to land Fields are West Virginia and Minnesota.
