Colts sign S Andrew Sendejo

Colts signed S Andrew Sendejo and waived CB Chris Wilcox on Tuesday.

The Indianapolis Colts announced Tuesday they signed veteran free agent safety Andrew Sendejo. To make room on the roster, the team waived cornerback Chris Wilcox. The team has also opened up a spot on the practice squad after releasing safety Sean Davis.

Sendejo was one of seven players to attend a tryout for the Colts on Monday, which included four other safeties.

Sendejo went undrafted out of Rice in 2010 but has since had quite the journeyman career in the NFL after a brief stint with the Sacramento Mountain Lions of the United Football League.

Sendejo has 75 career starts across 124 total games played. The teams that Sendejo has been a part of include the New Orleans Saints (2010), the Dallas Cowboys (2010), the New York Jets (2011), the Minnesota Vikings (2011-2019), the Philadelphia Eagles (2019), and the Cleveland Browns (2020).

In those 124 games played, Sendejo has compiled 446 tackles, eight tackles for a loss, two sacks, 23 passes defended, nine interceptions, two forced fumbles with three recoveries as well.

Sendejo will look to be a veteran voice of experience in a very young secondary room for the Colts coming off a rough start to its 2021 season. The team seems keen on adding experience to its depth since this off-season and this is yet another signing that enforces that point.
