The three-star tight end had received several impressive Power Five offers, including Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Wisconsin, LSU, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Michigan State, and UCLA among many others.
Texas sent an offer to Helm on June 9, but he chose to unofficially visit the university on his own terms on July 20 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the final weeks of his recruiting cycle, Helm also took visits to Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Iowa.
The Longhorns have sent nine different offers to tight end prospects out of the 2021 recruiting class. Six of these players have already committed elsewhere. According to 247Sports’ Crystal Ball Predictions, it appears Helm will be the only one of the group to commit to Texas.
Texas needed this momentum on the recruiting trail after losing out on the Brockermeyer twins earlier this month. Helm is a true tight end prospect at a significant position of need.
