College Football Playoff: Texas ranked in debut rankings

The College Football Playoff poll has been released. The committee has ranked UT inside the poll for the first time since Week 11 of 2019.

One of the most confusing college football seasons finally got some clarity on Tuesday night.

For weeks, the AP poll and Coaches poll was used to determine who the top 25 teams in college football were. Texas was ranked No. 20 and No. 21 in each poll respectively off a three-game winning streak.

However, the College Football Playoff poll has been released for the first time this season. The committee had the difficult job of judging teams who have played an uneven amount of games.

For Texas, they debut in the rankings at No. 17. It is the first time since Week 11 of last season since the Longhorns have been ranked in the College Football Playoff poll.

Three other Big 12 teams in Iowa State (No. 13), Oklahoma (No. 11), and Oklahoma State (No. 23) are ranked inside the top 25. With a current 1-1 record against those three teams, the Longhorns will have the opportunity to get another top 25 win over Iowa State on Black Friday.

Here is the full top 25:

  1. Alabama
  2. Notre Dame
  3. Clemson
  4. Ohio State
  5. Texas A&M
  6. Florida
  7. Cincinnati
  8. Northwestern
  9. Georgia
  10. Miami
