Clippers trade Filip Petrusev to Kings after acquiring him in James Harden deal

The Clippers have reportedly agreed to trade rookie Filip Petrusev and cash to the Kings.

The Los Angeles Clippers have agreed to trade rookie Filip Petrusev and cash to the Sacramento Kings, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

He was among the players involved in the blockbuster trade that saw the Clippers acquire James Harden and PJ Tucker from the Philadelphia 76ers. The trade was made official on Wednesday, clearing the way for the Clippers to move him to the Kings.

After landing Harden and Tucker, the Clippers weren’t expected to keep Petrusev on the roster. The team then worked with Petrusev to send him to a team that could offer him a potential role this season.

Petrusev, the 50th pick in 2021, signed a two-year contract with the 76ers in July after playing the past two seasons overseas. He helped lead Crvena zvezda to the Serbian League title last season by averaging 11 points and 4.9 rebounds on 57.3% shooting from the field.

The 23-year-old was born in Belgrade, Serbia, and has represented his country several times in international play. He most recently appeared with the senior team in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, averaging 8.2 points and 3.5 rebounds in six games.

He appeared with the Sixers in summer league and averaged 10.4 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.4 blocks and one assist in five games. He made three appearances in the preseason, averaging five points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
