Chris Spielman is creating “stay-at-home” instructional videos and they are gold

Former Ohio State and NFL linebacker Chris Spielman is bringing you some light-hearted content during the coronavirus measures. Pure gold.

Former Ohio State and NFL linebacker Chris Spielman is revered in central Ohio. He’s one of the greatest defensive players to ever wear the scarlet and gray, and his passion for the Buckeyes rival anyone.

It’s not just Ohio State that he touches though. As a national broadcast analyst for ESPN formerly, and now FOX, he’s done plenty of broadcast work for college and NFL games. Simply put, he’s known throughout the football community, and the game has been a major part of his life since he can probably remember.

So who can blame Spiels for getting a little stir-crazy while he’s taking these stay-at-home orders to heart? Not one to sit idly by, No. 36 is bringing some cleaning and linebacker tips to the masses, via his Twitter profile. It’s what the people need at this time.

And it’s not just all intense Spielman coming to you live from his basement and living room. No, it’s him interacting with his family and making the best out of the situation. So we thought, let’s put all these videos the Buckeye legend is putting out there all in one place for your viewing pleasure.

So, here goes nothing. Enjoy.

First up, Spielman tells you how to take on blocks as a linebacker. It’s doubtful a would-be blocker would ever come through a fancy front door on the football field, but you get the gist.

How about a little linebacker fashion show?

Or a little more lighthearted fashion show?

This one needs a little more explanation. It’s all about reading body language. It doesn’t work in my marriage very often, but it does when diagnosing plays.

Linebackers work on their physique and strength whenever they can. Even when bringing the groceries in. Never let an opportunity to get better pass you by! Also, pick the heavier bags you pond scum.

This one will make more sense when you watch it. It’s all about positioning, not about cutting bodies in half like the mafia. We promise.

Now, don’t tackle through a ball carrier, tackle through them. We’ve seen Ohio State do this to Michigan for the last twenty years successfully.

Yes, part of creating turnovers is practicing it. Not the apple variety, but the kind that can change momentum in a game.

Remember what we said about never letting a moment to get better pass you by? It might take a little longer to clean the floor this way, but you’ll have linebacker legs afterward. You can thank No. 36 later.

These are all great, and it gives you just a little peek into what a wonderful family the Spielman crew is. In this case, we do encourage you to try these at home. Or at least Chris Spielman does.
