White was a star football player at Walled Lake Western High School in Walled Lake, Michigan. He played eight different positions in high school amassing over 3,000 all-purpose yards during his career. He played everything from receiver to placekicker. His standout performance saw him selected for a number of different All-Pro teams including USA TODAY’s All-USA Michigan team.
White was recruited by over a dozen different colleges out of high school as a receiver but chose to stick close to home and go with Michigan State. In three seasons with the Spartans, White racked up the stats to finish seventh in Michigan State history in receptions (143), twelfth in receiving yards (1,967) and he tied for sixteenth in receiving touchdowns (12).

Fit with the Chiefs:
White is different from the prototypical Chiefs receiver prospect. He’s doesn’t run a blazing-fast 40-yard dash, like their starting receivers. He is really good off the line of scrimmage and does a good job running routes. He’s not going to create a ton of separation from the defender in coverage, but instead, he wins with strong hands and physicality at the catch point. He also boasts an impressive catch radius and tracking abilities.
Ultimately, White is a big target and he did a good job getting open in Michigan State offense that wasn’t that great. They didn’t have other premium weapons around him and the quarterback play was subpar for most of his career. Regardless, White still managed to produce and show some promising traits.
He’s versatile and can line up all over the field and has experience playing the X receiver spot and in the slot. While he played punt returner at Michigan State, but I’m not sure that White has a future there in the NFL. He’s likely going to need to play on coverage units early in his career for Kansas City.
