Chase Young named top five NFL Rookie by Touchdown Wire

Former Ohio State and current Washington defensive end Chase Young was named a top-five NFL rookie by Touchdown Wire. Here’s why.

You knew former Ohio State and current defensive end Chase Young had a pretty good chance of bursting on the scene this year in the NFL. He was thought of as a can’t miss prospect who would become one of the best new players in the league immediately when he was drafted.

And while that’s been true, Young hasn’t flashed as he did in week one when he immediately announced his arrival with a pair of sacks of Carson Wentz in a win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Since then, he’s had to battle through an injury and an offense that doesn’t hold up its end of the bargain for Washington. Still, Young has still spent a lot of time in opponents’ backfields and has made life uncomfortable for offensive coordinators in the NFL.

At Touchdown Wire, they did a piece on the top twelve rookies in the league through the midpoint of the season, and according to Mark Schofield, the former Heisman finalist has had one of the top five seasons of any rookie so far in 2020.
