The hype surrounding Texas football this season is real.
Although there’s always high expectations at Texas, two new coordinators on each side of the ball combined with the returning talent has only multiplied the excitement.
FOX Sports College Football Analyst Joel Klatt believes that this could be the year that the Longhorns finally knock off the five-time Big 12 Champions.
"If you're looking at a year in which you're going to clip the 5-time reigning Big 12 Champion Oklahoma… I think Texas has a great chance."@joelklatt breaks down why the stage is set for @TexasFootball to have a huge season ⬇️🤘 pic.twitter.com/licfnn1VzV

Klatt is confident in Texas primarily due to the question marks surrounding Oklahoma. The Sooners took a major blow to their backfield when running back Kennedy Brooks opted out of the 2020 season.
On top of that, one of the most discussed storylines heading into this year is the inexperienced quarterback play at Oklahoma. Head coach Lincoln Riley has had significant success at the position over the last several seasons, but Spencer Rattler still has to prove himself.
According to Klatt, Texas has the edge with returning senior quarterback Sam Ehlinger combined with a much more experienced defense. If they were to stay healthy and enter the Red River Rivalry with an undefeated record, Texas could potentially rise as high as the No. 3 team in the country.
Although it’s been an unusual offseason due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Tom Herman must find a way to consistently produce this season when his team takes the field.
