Offensive lineman Samuel Cosmi has been one of the few bright spots for Texas this season.
The former three-star recruit has anchored the left side of the Longhorns offensive line for the past two seasons. He switched from right tackle to left tackle after Connor Williams entered the 2018 NFL Draft, where he was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the second round.
Cosmi showcases a 6-foot-7, 309-pound frame and hasn’t missed a game at Texas. As a redshirt freshman, he appeared in all 14 games while starting the final 13 contests at right tackle. He started all 13 games at left tackle for the Longhorns in 2019 and has not missed a start in 2020 thus far.
He’s widely projected to become a first round draft pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. According to CBS Sports’ latest mock draft, Cosmi was taken off of the board at No. 24 overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“Cosmi currently solidifies the left side of the Longhorns offensive line and in Jacksonville he’d play opposite 2019 second-rounder, Jawaan Taylor.”
Cosmi was a first-team Walter Camp Preseason All-American in 2020 and chosen to the All-Big 12 Preseason Team. Prior to this season, he played an impressive 1,162 pass-block snaps and only allowed four sacks.
He’s a phenomenal athlete who has a bright future in the league.
