NFL Draft: 49ers add to offensive line in latest mock draft from ESPN’s Matt Miller

The 49ers landed a Pac-12 standout on the offensive line in the first round of the latest NFL mock draft from ESPN’s Matt Miller.

While all eyes are on the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, the opening pinnacle event of the early NFL draft cycle recently came to an end with the closing of Senior Bowl week in Mobile, Alabama. With the Senior Bowl wrapped up, updated NFL mock drafts are beginning to circulate.

ESPN NFL draft analyst Matt Miller recently released a new mock draft after watching some of the top prospects in the draft down in Mobile.

At the end of the first round, Miller addressed San Francisco’s offensive line with a player from the Pac-12. With the No 31 overall pick in his mock draft, Miller selected Arizona Wildcats left tackle Jordan Morgan.

While protecting freshman phenom Noah Fifita, Morgan earned an All Pac-12 First Team bid. Morgan is coming off a strong performance in Mobile, Alabama at the Senior Bowl.

At Arizona under Jedd Fisch, Morgan earned an 83.5 grade from Pro Football Focus. Morgan allowed only two sacks and 11 quarterback hurries in 787 offensive snaps.

According to Miller, Moragn is a player that could thrive in Kyle Shanahan’s zone-blocking scheme.

Via ESPN:

Watch the right side of the 49ers’ offensive line, and you’ll wonder how this team made the Super Bowl. The Niners ranked 27th in pass block win rate (54.3%) during the regular season. Morgan played left tackle for the Wildcats, and he could ultimately end up there after Trent Williams retires, but NFL scouts believe he has potential at right tackle or guard, too. I see a player with the agility and balance to thrive at right tackle in the 49ers’ zone-blocking scheme, and he would be counted on as a Day 1 starter here.

In the second round of his mock, Miller went to the defensive side of the ball. Miller inked Penn State edge rusher Adisa Issac to the 49ers with the No. 62 overall pick.

Isaac recorded 23 tackles and 7.5 sacks on his way to a first-team All-Big Ten bid.

The NFL draft is set for April 25, 2024, in Detroit, Michigan.
