Watch! 6-foot-8 tight end Donald Parham catches 2 TD pass for Dallas Renegades

Landry Jones found Donald Parham for two touchdown passes Saturday as the Renegades faced the Dragons.

A tip of the hat to Donald Parham, who came to the Dallas Renegades of the XFL via Stetson.

The 6-foot-8, 257-pound tight end caught a pair of touchdown passes from Landry Jones Saturday as the Renegades faced the Seattle Dragons.

The first scoring grab was a short one, going for 10 yards in the third quarter to tie the game at 12.

The second was more stylish as Jones found Parham with less than nine minutes to go on a 65-yard play. Watch as Parham’s eats up the ground with giant strides. Parham had five catches for 101 yards after the second TD play.

Parham played at Stetson, where during his senior season he had 85 receptions for 1,319 yards and 13 touchdowns. On May 10, 2019, Parham signed with the Detroit Lions after going undrafted. He was waived on May 12. He signed with Washington Redskins in June after a minicamp tryout Parham was waived by the Redskins on August 31 but re-signed to their practice squad on Sept, He was released on Sept. 17.

Dallas has a balanced offense and defense, with its scoring average at 17 points per game and its defense allowing 16 PPG, which is currently third in the XFL. The Renegades beat the Los Angeles Wildcats 25-18 last weekend. After the offense was inefficient for three quarters, the Renegades had a 19-point fourth quarter. Quarterback Landry Jones threw for 305 yards and Cameron Artis-Payne finished with 131 yards (99 rushing) and two key second-half scores.

Seattle is averaging 18 PPG and surrendering an average of 20 PPG, meaning this should be a very evenly matched contest. If ticket sales are any indication, the Dragons are currently one of the most popular teams in the XFL. The Dragons are coming off of a 17-9 home win over the Tampa Bay Vipers. Just like Dallas, Seattle’s offense sputtered in the first half, totaling just 41 yards, but the defense kept the Dragons in striking distance. Seattle scored just one offensive touchdown in the game, but it was a moot point because the defense carried the load. The Dragons backfield topped 100 yards, with Trey Williams and Kenneth Farrow each contributing 45 yards.

WATCH! Tampa Bay’s Dan Williams takes short pass to the house

The Tampa Bay Vipers were trailing the Houston Roughnecks in the third quarter Saturday when Taylor Cornelius hit Dan Williams with a short pass and the wide receiver from Jackson State did the rest, taking the ball to the end zone. TOO. STRONG. …

The Tampa Bay Vipers were trailing the Houston Roughnecks in the third quarter Saturday when Taylor Cornelius hit Dan Williams with a short pass and the wide receiver from Jackson State did the rest, taking the ball to the end zone.

After the scoring play, the celebration was interrupted.

Williams explained how important the score was to Diana Russini of ESPN/ABC.

Roughnecks player crashes team touchdown celebration, steals ball

Houston’s Marqueston Huff crashed Tampa Bay’s campfire celebration.

The Tampa Bay Vipers scored just 12 points through their first two XFL games, but in their first home game at Raymond James Stadium, the Vipers didn’t struggle to put points on the board in a tight game with the undefeated Houston Roughnecks.

The Vipers scored late in the second quarter to enter halftime tied 18-18, but the Roughnecks opened the second half with a touchdown drive to go up by eight. Late in the third, the Vipers answered. After converting a crucial 4th-and-4 near midfield, quarterback Taylor Cornelius hit receiver Dan Williams with a 20-yard touchdown pass, and the Vipers celebrated by gathering around the campfire in the endzone.

While the Vipers were sitting down and encircling the ball, Houstons’ Marqueston Huff jumped into the center of the group, stole the ball and walked out.

Huff put an exclamation point on his heist by sticking his tongue out at the camera.

Who is Cam Phillips, touchdown machine WR for the Houston Roughnecks?

Cam Phillips has been Mr. Touchdown in the XFL through three weeks. Where did the WR play college ball?

Cam Phillips is the favorite receiver of the Houston Roughnecks’ star QB P.J. Walker. Phillips already has six TD passes in a little more than 10 quarters of the XFL season.

So, who is Cam Phillips?

PJ Walker, the XFL’s walking highlight reel, has Twitter going wild

This dude is SOOOO good

If the XFL was looking for a new He Hate Me, they probably found him in PJ Walker.

People have been saying that there aren’t that many good quarterbacks in the XFL and, honestly, that might be true. I’m not the guy who would be able to disprove that one.

What I can say, though, is that PJ Walker is the most fun quarterback in the XFL. And if you haven’t watched him led the Houston Roughnecks yet this season, you’re missing out.

This dude is really out here looking like the XFL’s version of Michael Vick. It’s like Walker is literally out there playing Madden or something.

Walker is a master of improvisation on the XFL level, and he frequently turns what should be nothing plays into positive gains. In the second quarter, he picked up an errant snap and just took it into the endzone himself like it was nothing. Just casually outran everyone.

This dude is unreal. He’s also out here throwing 84-yard touchdowns with defenders wrapped around his legs. Like, what?

Listen, I’m not going to say that Walker is the most fun football player in the world to watch at this very moment, but I’m also not not going to say it.  It’s not just me! Twitter agrees.

No idea if this translates into a shot at the NFL for him, but is he fun to watch.

XFL fans lost it over this questionable unnecessary roughness call

Did officials make the right call on this massive hit?

Through the first two weeks of the 2020 XFL regular season, we’ve seen referees across the league allow crunching hits that likely would draw flags in the NFL. In Saturday’s opener in Tampa Bay, though, the Roughnecks were assessed a costly penalty on what seemed to be a very well-timed hit.

On a 2nd-and-10 play, Vipers quarterback Quinton Flowers launched a pass down the sideline in the area of three Houston defenders, but running back De’Veon Smith made a great catch and held the ball through an immediate hit from safety Cody Brown.

Brown leveled Smith, who was a defenseless receiver at the time of contact, but replays showed that Brown led with his shoulder and appeared to make a legal hit. The penalty put the Vipers half the distance to the goal, and they scored a touchdown on the very next play with a 7-yard rush from Flowers.

Former NFL player Louis Riddick, along with plenty of XFL fans, couldn’t believe the call.

WATCH! P.J. Walker turns fumbled snap into touchdown run for Roughnecks

P.J. Walker picked up a botched snap and turned it into a spectacular touchdown run.

P.J. Walker has an arm and some pretty fantastic legs, too.

The Houston Roughnecks’ quarterback added to his burgeoning XFL legacy in the second quarter against the Tampa Bay Vipers Saturday.

Walker had already thrown an 84-yard TD pass to Cam Walker when he took a snap — or tried to grab it — in the second quarter. No problem for the former Temple star. He picked the ball up and took off for the end zone, finding it without being touched. The place goes for eight yards in the stats but more than that when you watch it:

WATCH: P.J. Walker and Cam Phillips hook up for incredible 84-yard TD pas

P.J. Walker and Cam Phillips of the XFL Houston Roughnecks connected for their fifth TD of the season in the first quarter Saturday.

The most lethal combination in the XFL, P.J. Walker and Cam Phillips, connected again in the first quarter of the Houston Roughnecks’ game with the Tampa Bay Vipers on Saturday.

Walker, the Patrick Mahomes of the new league, appeared to be running on the play. However, as the QB got to the line and was about to be dragged down, he unleashed a pass that was tipped. It wound up in the hands of Phillips and 84 yards later he was in the end zone.

Walker and Phillips had connected for four touchdowns in the first two weeks. And the beat goes on for the combo.

To add a finishing touch, Walker found Sam Mobley for a three-point PAT that gave the Roughnecks a 9-3 lead.

It will be fascinating to see what NFL team makes a play for Walker, who was an Indianapolis Colts practice squad player.

Prediction

Guardians 26, Battlehawks 20

Moneyline (?)

The GUARDIANS (+300) are the biggest underdogs on the Week 3 slate with the Battlehawks (-400) the most-heavily favored team. With both teams sharing the same futures odds to win the XFL Championship, these moneyline odds should be much tighter, and it’s a good spot to chase the value early in the XFL season.

New York looked much better in a 23-3 win over the Tampa Bay Vipers in Week 1, with McGloin completing 15 of 29 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown. Back the visitors to bounce back.

Against the Spread (?)

The safer play is to back the GUARDIANS (+9.5, -106) to stay within nine points in a loss or win outright. The Battlehawks beat the Dallas Renegades by a 15-9 score on the road in Week 1 before last week’s 4-point loss in Houston.

Three of the four games in the XFL last week were played within a one-possession margin after three teams won by double digits in Week 1. Expect the tighter-scoring trend to continue as the season progresses.

Over/Under (?)

The projected totals across the league have been lowered significantly after the Under has been a common theme in the early-going of the season. Back the OVER 40.5 (+100) on the lowest number of the week. The projection is an over-adjustment by the books.
