All of the CFN Fearless Predictions

Duke (1-0) vs North Carolina A&T (0-1) Game Preview

Why North Carolina A&T Will Win

Wait for it long enough and Duke will screw up.

The Blue Devil defense was hardly special in the 31-28 loss to Charlotte, but a good, tough game should’ve been a Blue Devil win except for all of the big mistakes.

Duke didn’t see a turnover it didn’t like to commit last year, and against the 49ers the two giveaways and -2 turnover margin was a killer.

North Carolina A&T did a decent job against the run in the 29-18 loss to Furman, but …

Week 2 College Football Expert Picks

Why Duke Will Win

The Aggies might be able to outdo the Blue Devils when it comes to screwing up.

Two giveaways and ten penalties didn’t help as A&T got down in the first half and had to push to catch up late. Yes, the run defense was statistically fine, but that’s partly because the secondary was torched by Furman’s Hamp Simpson.

Duke won’t have any problems throwing the ball, and as long as they don’t totally mess up there shouldn’t be too much drama.

Week 1 NFL Predictions, Game Previews

What’s Going To Happen

Can Mataeo Durant keep up the momentum?

The stunning loss to Charlotte overshadowed a massive 255-yard, three-score performance from the Blue Devil running back, and QB Gunnar Holmberg was great, too.

It’s Duke, so there will be at least one giveaway, but the mistakes won’t matter in this.

All of the CFN Fearless Predictions

Coastal Carolina (0-0) vs Kansas (0-0) Game Preview

Why Kansas Will Win

Yeah, Kansas won a game.

It wasn’t pretty, and it took a whole lot of stress to get by South Dakota 17-14, but QB Jason Bean had a decent day – he led the team in rushing and didn’t make any big mistakes through the air – for an O that did a great job of controlling the ball and the clock.

Coastal Carolina has all the pressure. It won this the last two years, the team is ranked, and Kansas is supposed to get rocked. The Jayhawks, though, still have Big 12 athletes and should be able to open it up a bit now that they got past the opener.

Week 2 College Football Expert Picks

Why Coastal Carolina Will Win

The Kansas running game isn’t there yet.

Eventually it’ll start to work under new head coach Lance Leipold, but that might not come until next season.

The Chanticleers got run on by The Citadel – who only runs and threw just six passes – but the defensive front was able to hold firm on the inside and didn’t allow too many gaping plays.

Coastal Carolina’s rushing attack should rip off big run after big run, and Grayson McCall is coming off an almost perfect day – the O was in midseason form.

Week 1 NFL Predictions, Game Previews

What’s Going To Happen

Don’t discount just how big a deal this really is for Coastal Carolina.

Yeah, it might be getting a wee bit used to the national spotlight, but it’s still a Big 12 team coming into Brooks Stadium for nationally televised Friday night game.

The Group of Five program is going to make it three in a row over the Power Five team.

Georgia Southern (1-0) vs Louisiana (2-0) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on the NFL, go to BetMGM

Why Georgia Southern Will Win

To get ugly and put a global pandemic into a football analysis – Louisiana will be missing at least five key players, including star RB Elijah McGuire.

From positive test to contact tracing concerns, this isn’t going to be the same team that got though Iowa State and Georgia State on the road to start the season.

LB Joe Dillon will be out, too – the defense that allowed 381 rushing yards and five scores in the first two games can’t handle losing a slew of good parts against this running game.

Georgia Southern was missing over 20 players against Campbell to start the season, and it got out with a 27-26 win. Now the team is healthier.

Why Louisiana Will Win

Louisiana is deep enough to be okay with the personnel losses. Mitchell might be out, but running mate Trey Regas can handle the workload – he’s back No. 1A in the offense – and Levi Lewis and the passing game can start doing more.

Campbell was able to move the chains well in the 27-26 loss to Georgia Southern, but it was crushed with too many penalties. It had one play to get a two-point conversion for the win, and missed.

This might be a different Georgia Southern team than the one from a few weeks ago, but the Louisiana offense should still work just fine. And …

What’s Going To Happen

Louisiana has been able to handle the Eagle option offense. It allowed 215 rushing yards in last year’s 37-24 Ragin’ Cajun win, and it should be able to lock down just enough to not lose control of the game.

Even without Mitchell, Louisiana might still outgain the Eagles on the ground.

New Orleans (1-0) vs Las Vegas (1-0) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on the NFL, go to BetMGM

Why New Orleans Will Win

The defense had a whole lot to do with Tom Brady’s rough debut with Tampa Bay.

The Saints defense came up with three sacks and three takeaways, including the key pick six that all but ended the game early in the third quarter. Now the group gets turned loose to try stopping Josh Jacobs and the Raider running game.

Tampa Bay tried getting going on the ground, but it only managed 3.3 yards per carry and went nowhere outside of one decent dash. Slow down the run, win the takeaway battle, and let the offense be efficient enough to take advantage of every opportunity. But …

Week 3 Experts Picks Predictions: NFL

Why Las Vegas Will Win

Michael Thomas is out. The star receiver caught three passes before going out with a leg injury, and now the Saints have to find help from the rest of the receiving corps that did a whole lot of nothing against the Buccaneers.

And the running game? Alvin Kamara was held to 16 yards on 12 carries and the team averaged 2.4 yards per run.

Las Vegas got a big game out of its offensive line against Carolina – pounding away for three Jacobs touchdowns – and Derek Carr hit 22-of-30 passes with an effective 239-yard day. As long as Carr isn’t making any big mistakes and Jacobs can help grind out the clock – it had the ball for over 31 minutes last week – the O can keep up.

Week 3 Experts Picks Predictions: College Football

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

WR Emmanuel Sanders, New Orleans
Who steps up without Michael Thomas around? Alvin Kamara caught five passes, and TE Jared Cook led the team with 80 yards on his five grabs. Taysom Hill will likely get more involved, and Tre’Quan Smith needs to sow up, but it’s Sanders who has to grow into the No. 1 role and become more of a volume catcher.

What’s Going To Happen

The Las Vegas offensive line will take over for stretches, but the New Orleans defense will stiffen in key moments to stall drive after drive. Being at home will matter to a certain extent for the Raiders, but the loss of Michael Thomas will be a bigger deal overall. It’ll be a physical game with Las Vegas showing up on the lines.

All of the CFN Fearless Predictions

Kansas City (1-0) vs Los Angele Chargers (1-0) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on the NFL, go to BetMGM

Why Kansas City Will Win

It’s not just Mr. Mahomes.

Patrick Mahomes had a pedestrian 211-yard, three-touchdown day in the win over Houston, and he was simply a key part of the puzzle.

That’s a bit of an overstatement considering he was great early and forced the Texans out of their running game, but Clyde Edwards-Helaire ran for 138 yards and a score, and the defense dominant.

Deshaun Watson had nowhere to go with the ball and was under constant pressure, forcing the offense to blow off the running game that was effective early.

Tyron Taylor only hit 16-of-30 passes for 208 yards in LA’s 16-13 win over Cincinnati. That’s not going to work this week.

Why Los Angeles Chargers Will Win

The defense is going to swarm around Edwards-Helaire.

It’s a good enough Chargers secondary to keep from getting lit up by Mahomes, but it’s going to have problems – everyone will. Stopping the Kansas City running game comes first, and the linebacking tandem of Kenneth Murray and Nick Vigil should be all around the ball.

It’s a whole different world this week, but LA held Cincinnati to under 300 yards.

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

RB Joshua Kelley, Los Angeles Chargers
Is this going to be Kelley’s running game? Austin Ekeler was fine – he ran 19 times for 84 yards – and he’s still the No. 1 back, but Kelley got the touchdown run along with 60 yards on 12 carries. Ekeler can bring the pop, too, but Kelley – the rookie from UCLA – will get his share of work.

What’s Going To Happen

Kansas City misfired on a few chances in the red zone against Houston, but it only committed one penalty, had the ball for almost 35 minutes, and came up with an air-tight performance against a good team. The Chargers are good, and being in their new home will bring an added boost, but they’re going to struggle to get out of the first half alive.

Minnesota (0-1) vs Indianapolis (0-1) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on the NFL, go to BetMGM

Why Minnesota Will Win

The passing game was fantastic. It had to keep rolling with the defense giving up yards and points by the bucketload, but Kirk Cousins had no issues with the deep ball throwing for 259 yards and two touchdowns.

Cousins hit 19-of-25 passes. Gardner Minshew hit 19-of-20 passes in Jacksonville’s 27-20 win over Indianapolis.

The Colts got to Minshew, but they couldn’t force him into a slew of big mistakes. Cousins is fine with time, Dalvin Cook and the running game should average over five yards per carry, and the offense should work. However …

Why Indianapolis Will Win

Oh that Minnesota secondary.

The entire defense didn’t have an answer for the Packers. They ran for 158 yards, but it was the 364-yard, four-touchdown day from Aaron Rodgers that blew up the game.

Minnesota came up with 24 points in the fourth quarter and still lost by nine.

The Colt running game took a hit when Marlon Mack went down against the Jaguars, but Rivers bombed away for 363 yards and a score. He threw two critical picks, but he’ll get his chances to keep firing away, unless the Colts get a huge game from …

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

RB Jonathan Taylor, Indianapolis
Okay, rookie. Let’s see what you can do. With Mack out for the year with a torn Achilles’ tendon, the former Wisconsin star goes from being eased into the rotation to the main man. Nyheim Hines will get the ball as a receiver, but  Taylor is about to be a workhorse – at least that’s what Indy is hoping for.

What’s Going To Happen

Minnesota won’t exactly fix the glitch, but it’ll be far tighter against the passing game than it was against Green Bay. The offense will be a bit more effective earlier in the game than it was last week, and while the defense will get hit hard, there were will be a whole lot of bending without too much breaking.

Why Washington Will Win

It wasn’t perfect, and it wasn’t beautiful, but the Football Team was able to come up with a fantastic defensive second half, and Dwayne Haskins did what he needed to do, to get by Philadelphia 27-17.

How did it really happen? Pass rush, pass rush, pass rush.

The Washington defensive front beat up and battered Carson Wentz, stalled any semblance of an Eagle running game, and it forced three turnovers thanks to all the pressure.

Arizona kept things moving against San Francisco with a huge performance from Kyler Murray, but he also didn’t get pressured like he will this week.

Why Arizona Will Win

It’s not like Washington did much of anything with its running game. Peyton Barber ran for two scores and Antonio Gibson led the way with 36 rushing yards, but it couldn’t do much to help out Haskins.

Arizona’s defense was hardly perfect against San Francisco, but it was able to hold its own against the banging offensive front. It’s the other side of the ball that should be the difference.

Murray was unstoppable when he got on the move, and DeAndre Hopkins made the most of his 16 targets with 14 grabs for 151 yards.

Week 3 Experts Picks Predictions: NFL

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

TE Logan Thomas, Washington
Is he going to be a go-to guy around the goal line? Arizona drafted the Virginia Tech quarterback, but now he’s a tight end for the Football Team with the size and athleticism to grow into a steady factor. He only caught four passes for 37 yards and a touchdown, but if he scores again, he’s worth a flier of a pickup.

What’s Going To Happen

The excitement for the Cardinals is off the charts after being the defending NFC champs with Murray and Hopkins looking fantastic. The offense will continue to be explosive, but it’s not going to run away and hide with the Washington defense keeping the pressure up enough to make Murray work.
