Jordan Walsh wants to play more with the Boston Celtics in 2024-25

“That’s where I’m at now,” he said.

In his rookie season, Boston Celtics second-year forward Jordan Walsh spent most of his time in Portland playing with the Maine Celtics at the G League level, but the Arkansas alum wants to earn more time with the parent club this season.

“It’s a goal I’ve set for myself, for sure,” said Walsh via CLNS Media’s Bobby Manning. “Obviously, the front office and them believe in me. They think that I have a chance. So as long as that window’s open, I’m going to try my hardest to get through it. I feel like at the end of the day, me realizing that I’m still 20 years old, I still have a lot of time, a lot of growth.”

“But also at the same time knowing I have to make constant improvements to my game,” added Walsh. “So just staying in that mindset knowing that I have to improve, but I can also be good for now to be able to help the team now.”

Walsh has not exactly had the best start to his run at this summer’s Las Vegas Summer League, but that isn’t going to deter the Dallas native.

“That’s where I’m at now,” he said, “and that’s how I’m moving through the Summer League and how I’ll move throughout training camp and the season.”

Are Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown among the best players in Celtics history?

Do the Boston Celtics have two of its greatest ever players currently playing on the roster?

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are both homegrown talents for the Boston Celtics. They were drafted by Danny Ainge and nurtured by Brad Stevens and his coaching staff. During their tenure with the Celtics, they’ve played for three head coaches and consistently developed their skillsets to become two of the best forwards in the NBA.

This past season, Tatum and Brown led Boston to its 18th championship. They finally reached a goal they’ve both been working toward since entering the NBA and disproved numerous media narratives in the process.

In a recent episode of WEEI’s “Gresh and Fauria,” the hosts discussed Tatum and Brown’s careers to date and what their resumes could look like at the end of their careers. The discussion then began to focus on where they rank in Celtics history and within sports history throughout the 21st Century.

Are we watching the greatest Boston Celtics team in history?

Has this version of the Boston Celtics done enough to be considered the best Celtics team in history?

The Boston Celtics are the most storied franchise in NBA history. They lead the NBA with their 18 championship banners hanging from the rafters of the TD Garden. Right now, the current version of the Celtics is poised to become the latest dynasty in the NBA, assuming they can stay healthy and locked in.

Boston has enjoyed some of the most dominant teams in NBA history and some of the most iconic players. Bill Russell, Tommy Heinsohn, Larry Bird, John Havlicek, Bob Cousey, Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, the list of all-time great Celtics is as long as it is impressive.

Nevertheless, a recent YouTube video by NESN postulated that we may be watching the greatest Celtics team in history due to its dominance, depth and the elite skillsets on offer up and down the roster. However, the current roster is likely a couple more championships away from being considered as the best Celtics team of all time.

You can watch the full reasoning for why this Celtics team could be the all-time best roster by clicking on the embedded video above.

What could stop the Boston Celtics from repeating next season?

What are some of the pitfalls the Boston Celtics could face next season?

The Boston Celtics are the 2024 NBA champions. They will enter next season looking to repeat their success. However, multiple teams around the NBA have improved their rosters during the offseason, including the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks, who are both conference rivals. As such, Boston isn’t guaranteed an easy path to a second consecutive championship.

Brad Stevens has favored continuity with his team, extending multiple players’ contracts during the opening weeks of free agency. Joe Mazzulla’s team will come into the season knowing each other’s tendencies and with a firm grasp of the offensive and defensive playbook. That should give them an edge to begin the season, despite Kristaps Porzingis being ruled out for the opening months due to injury.

During a recent episode of WEEI’s “Jones and Mego,” the hosts discussed Boston’s upcoming season and what pitfalls could arise to hinder them on their journey to lifting Banner 19 in 2025.

Jayson Tatum earning praise in Team USA training camp

Jayson Tatum has received praise from a Team USA coach for his new approach on the court.

Jayson Tatum emerged as one of the NBA’s most complete players last season. While he took a back seat in terms of scoring, the All-Star forward displayed elite rebounding and playmaking skills as he looked to get the best out of a deep and talented Boston Celtics roster.

Tatum’s new style of play led to some criticism from the media during the season. However, his unselfish approach was a significant reason why the Celtics could find high-level success throughout the basketball year. During a recent appearance on “The Old Man and The 3” podcast, Tatum revealed that a member of Team USA’s coaching staff praised his selfless play this year.

Tatum’s new approach has seen him evolve into the ideal point forward. If he continues to refine his approach and fix his 3-point shot, he will be an unstoppable force in the coming years.

Tatum will now get a chance to continue developing his game while playing against some of the best international teams in the world. If Team USA can make use of their elite roster, he will likely enjoy another championship celebration before the start of the season.

Who are biggest threat to the Boston Celtics in the East?

Which Eastern Conference teams could stand in the Boston Celtics way?

The Boston Celtics will be defending their NBA championship in the upcoming season. Multiple teams in the Eastern Conference have made offseason moves to improve their rosters and potentially close the gap on Joe Mazzulla’s team. Boston will face a difficult path back to the NBA Finals next season.

Suddenly, there are four or five teams that could emerge as a threat to the Celtics during the 2025 playoffs. However, each team has some legitimate question marks hanging over their heads. For example, the Philadelphia 76ers’ addition of Paul George makes them an elite roster, yet their ability to stay healthy will be the ultimate test of their championship credentials.

Derrick White to replace Kawhi Leonard on Team USA ahead of Paris Olympics

Celtics guard Derrick White is set to replace Kawhi Leonard on Team USA ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Boston Celtics guard Derrick White will replace Kawhi Leonard of the Los Angeles Clippers on the USA men’s basketball team according to ESPN’s Marc J Spears. This comes just a few weeks before the team heads to Paris for the 2024 Olympics.

Leonard stepped away from the team Wednesday morning, saying he wanted to focus on preparing for next year. Leonard dealt with a lingering knee injury with the Clippers during the 2023-24 season. In joining team USA,  White will reunite with his Celtics teammates Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday. The All-Defensive guard has a history with the program, and was a finalist to make the Olympic team back in 2020. White was also a member of the USA World Cup squad that went 6-2 in 2019. This past season with the Celtics, his unique blend of defense and scoring was a key component for Boston’s title run. No doubt he will be providing similar services to a Team USA eager to win another gold medal.

At the time of this writing, it’s unclear when White will report. Team USA will play five showcase games prior to the Olympics proper in Las Vegas, London, and Abu Dhabi beginning on July 10.

Jrue Holiday on seeing Jayson Tatum break through to win an NBA title with the Celtics

It was a relief for all involved, but Holiday wants more for Tatum in the future.

Before the Boston Celtics finally broke through to win Banner 18, the only member of the Celtics roster who knew what it took to win a title firsthand was veteran Boston guard Jrue Holiday. And the struggles that the Celtics had gone through in trying to win it all before Holiday’s arrival weighed on star Boston forward Jayson Tatum enough that the UCLA alum noticed.

“You could see and hear and feel all the pressure he has on him,” said Holiday in a recent interview with the Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach as Boston’s players on Team USA practice for the Paris Olympics. “But to be able to relax and know he completed the ultimate goal was something I was super happy for.”

“To experience that, to go through the ups and downs and struggles of a season with a teammate and experience it that way, and then to be able to experience this next month or so, it’s just about doing it with the people you love,” he added.

“And obviously Jayson and everything we went through, I loved to see him win the championship,” said Holiday. “But now I’d also love to see him win another gold medal.”
