Derrick Henry throws jump-pass TD to Josh Whyle for Titans

Derrick Henry with the jump pass for a Titans touchdown

The Tennessee Titans went Tim Tebow on the Cincinnati Bengals late in the first half on Sunday at Nissan Stadium.

With the ball on the Cincinnati 2 and time running down, the Bengals expected Derrick Henry to get the football.

What they didn’t expect was for the star running back to pull up, jump and throw a TD pass to Josh Whyle.

The Titans were up 24-3 at halftime.

Twitter goes wild over Deshaun Watson’s blooper-worthy backward pass

Twitter had a lot to say about the Deshaun Watson backward pass that looked like a blooper reel come to life. Also, poor Aaron Brooks.

The German word “Schadenfreude” is defined as “Malicious joy” and “Pleasure derived by someone from another person’s misfortune.” In the case of Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, you could argue that the schadenfreude over his horrible season is well-placed.

The clown show continued on Sunday when the Browns took on the Tennessee Titans. Cleveland’s defense has been on lock as it has been all season long, but it really doesn’t matter when your quarterback is doing stuff like this.

As we would expect, social media had a lot to say about it.

The 2023 NFL All-Breakout team

As the beginning of the 2023 season continues to creep closer, several players are quietly lurking and will have every opportunity to become household names before the coming campaign concludes.

Every season, there is a select handful of players around the NFL that seemingly come out of nowhere and have fantastic seasons. As the beginning of the 2023 season continues to creep closer, several players are quietly lurking and will have every opportunity to become household names before the coming campaign concludes.

Five NFL stars who could (and should) be traded in the 2023 season

With several veteran players approaching the end of their respective deals and/or playing for teams who won’t be contending for anything more than draft position, these five players could see themselves get dealt before the season’s end.

Over the last few seasons, we’ve seen in-season trades become more of the norm. Christian McCaffrey was the silver tuna at last year’s trade deadline and turned the San Francisco 49ers into an even more dyanmic offense than they were before. Kadarius Toney was dealt to the Chiefs from the Giants and went on to help Kansas City win a Super Bowl.

With several veteran players approaching the end of their respective deals and/or playing for teams who won’t be contending for anything more than draft position, these five players could see themselves get dealt before the season’s end.

DeAndre Hopkins to sign with Tennessee Titans

The battle for DeAndre Hopkins ends with Tennessee landing the veteran wideout

The Tennessee Titans are adding a weapon to their receiving corps. It was reported Sunday that the AFC South team is signing veteran free agent WR DeAndre Hopkins.

The pursuit of Hopkins has been one of the more intriguing stories of the latter part of the offseason. Speculation had the former Houston Texan and Arizona Cardinal flirting with the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and New England Patriots.

However, he lands with the Titans, a team that needs a star wide receiver. Tennessee suffered last year after it traded WR A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Hopkins has 853 receptions for 11,298 yards and 71 touchdowns. He spent the last three years in Arizona. Due to a variety of reasons, including an NFL-mandated suspension, Hopkins was limited to 19 total games over the past two seasons.

One would expect undrafted free agent rookie Kearis Jackson to be giving up the No. 10 he has been assigned.

The NFL’s 11 best interior defensive linemen

From Vita Vea to Chris Jones, here’s Doug Farrar’s list of the 11 best interior defensive linemen in the NFL today.

The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. That simple truth is important for the purposes of our list of the NFL’s best interior defensive linemen because we’re in a league where quick-game passing concepts are perhaps more prevalent than ever. And with those zero- and one-stop drops, and one- to three-level RPOs, your edge-rushers aren’t always going to get to the quarterback in time.

So, it behooves your NFL franchise to develop as much interior pressure as possible. That’s where the straight line comes in.

In a recent episode of “The Xs and Os with Greg Cosell,” Greg and I got into the traits for every player aligned to every gap along the defensive line, and those big guys getting to the quarterback made up a big part of that.

The attributes required to make our list of the best interior definitive linemen coming into the 2023 season are as follows:

  • Gap versatility is an absolute must. If you can only win from one or two gaps, especially if those gaps are right next to each other… well, that’s nice, but we’re looking for more.
  • You must have different ways to get to the ball, and if you’re too reliant on schemes and stunts and those around you, that’s a debit. We need guys who can do it all without help all the time.
  • When we’re talking about inside guys, the ability to stop the run obviously becomes more important and is more paramount. Defenders with high stop rates will find that paying off on this list.

So, here’s our list of the 11 best interior defensive linemen in the NFL today. You can read the rest of our position lists linked below, leading up to our list of the 101 best players in the NFL today.
