Bengals strike swiftly as Joe Burrow hits Tee Higgins 12 seconds into the third quarter

The Bengals have stunned with Rams with a TD and interception to open the third quarter

The Cincinnati Bengals delivered a pair of lightning strikes in the first 22 seconds of the third quarter during Super Bowl 56 Sunday at SoFi Stadium.

There was a lot of physicality between Jalen Ramsey and Tee Higgins but there was no flag as the Bengals’ receiver came down with the ball and the Los Angeles Rams’ DB hit the turf.

No flag and all that happened was 75 yards later, 6 points for the Bengals and a 17-13 lead after Evan McPherson’s PAT.

The Rams got the ball back and Matthew Stafford threw his second interception of the game. In 22 seconds, the Bengals had a touchdown and turnover and the momentum swung.

The drive after the pick turned into a field goal and suddenly the Bengals were up 20-13 as they looked to win their first Super Bowl.

Inactive Vernon Hargreaves costs Bengals after interception

Vernon Hargreaves with a foolish appearance in Super Bowl 56

There probably wasn’t a pro bet for someone not in uniform being penalized.

However, it happened in the second quarter of Sunday’s Super Bowl 56 between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals.

Jessie Bates made a nice interception of a Matthew Stafford pass intended for Van Jefferson in the end zone.

The Bengals, not content just to have a turnover, had to go into celebratory antics.

Unfortunately for Cincinnati, one of the people who decided to join the party was inactive DB Vernon Hargreaves.

That’s a no-no and Cincinnati had to start its next drive at the 10 instead of the 20.

The Bengals wound up having to punt after starting deep in their territory.

The penalty was half the distance, for 10 yards, not 15.

Bengals get 6 as Joe Mixon throws TD pass to Tee Higgins

Trickeration turns into a Bengals touchdown pass by Joe Mixon

Super Bowl 56 now has a touchdown pass from a Cincinnati Bengal. And it isn’t Joe Burrow.

Zac Taylor got tricky midway through the second quarter of Super Bowl 56 Sunday at SoFi Stadium against the Los Angeles Rams. He had Burrow piitch the ball to running back Joe Mixon.

Mixon had no problems delivering a pass to Tee Higgins in the end zone from 6 yards.

After a successful PAT, the Bengals were back within three points, 13-10.

Mixon threw one pass at Oklahoma and it went for a TD.

This was the first pass he threw in his five-year NFL career.

Matthew Stafford connects with Cooper Kupp for Rams score

Cooper Kupp is unstoppable. The wide receiver with a TD grab in Super Bowl 56.

It was 9 to 10 from the 11-yard line and the Los Angeles Rams had a 10-point lead in the second quarter of Super Bowl 56 against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday at SoFi Stadium.

Skipping the numerals, Matthew Stafford connected with Triple Crown winner Cooper Kupp for a touchdown pass and the Rams led 13-3.

Holder Johnny Hekker dropped the snap on the PAT and it failed so the lead stayed at 10 points.

Kupp looked like he was going to block on the play before running his route to the back of the end zone.

It was too easy.

Simply change his name to Super Kupp.

Ja’Marr Chase’s stunning one-hand grab sets up Bengals field goal

The Bengals have scored in Super Bowl 56, getting a field goal after a stunning catch by Ja’Marr Chase

The LSU connection struck for the Cincinnati Bengals late in the first quarter of Super Bowl.

Joe Burrow went deep, looking for Ja’Marr Chase and the rookie made an astonishing catch.

Chase needed only one hand to complete the 46-yard play, which was mind-bending. It also came against elite DB Jalen Ramsey.

This guy is a rookie and his QB is in the second year.

Evan McPherson connected on a 29-yard field goal and the Bengals were on the board, trailing the Los Angeles Rams 7-3, Sunday at SoFi Stadium.

Matthew Stafford hits Odell Beckham Jr. for Super Bowl 56’s first score

Matthew Stafford connected with Odell Beckham Jr. and the Rams lead Super Bowl 56

The Los Angeles Rams’ wheeling and dealing paid dividends in the first quarter of Super Bowl 56 Sunday at SoFi Stadium.

The Cincinnati Bengals had the Rams in a third-and-three but that was the kind of challenge Matthew Stafford loves.

The quarterback, acquired in the offseason from the Detroit Lions, found a target that came to Los Angeles during the season, Odell Beckham Jr.

The former New York Giant and Cleveland Brown was at his spectacular best, catching the pass that was good for 17 yards and 6 points.

Matt Gay nailed the PAT and the road team Rams had a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter.

Mickey Guyton delivers stirring version of national anthem

Mickey Guyton did the honors, singing the anthem before Super Bowl 56

It is a sort of game within the pregame. How long would it take Mickey Guyton to sing the national anthem? What color dress would the singer wear?

There was that and many other prop bets that were decided when Guyton made her performance in the minutes before Super Bowl 56 between the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Ca.

Guyton wore a dress that mirrored the blue in the Rams’ uniforms.

If you were wondering about the time: 110.6 seconds or 1 minute, 50 and 6/10ths seconds.

The U.S. Air Force Heritage Flight team did a flyover during the anthem.

Jhene Aiko sang “America the Beautiful” before the anthem was performed.

ESPN could have Sean McVay in sights for Monday Night Football booth

Sean McVay in the Monday Night Football booth?

Never say never, right?

The New York Post reported Sunday ESPN could pursue Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay if he decides to take a break for coaching.

McVay turned 36 on January 24. He suggested at wanting to have a life in this piece, below:

And that brings us to Andrew Marchand’s report before the Rams took the field to face the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl 56 at SoFi Stadium.

McVay would likely be able to command a salary of $10-plus million per year. He could also potentially have top broadcasting options with Fox and Amazon, according to sources.

… If an ESPN pursuit of McVay were to happen, it would be the second time the network has gone after McVay. In 2020, The Post reported ESPN had conversations with McVay about joining “Monday Night Football.” McVay stayed with the Rams.
