Equestrian team jumping — Gold medal winner: GREAT BRITAIN (+490)

No matter which nation you decide, there is money to be made in team jumping. Sweden (+350) is the chalk where you can multiply up by 3½ times your initial wager if Sweden wins.

However, we’re backing GREAT BRITAIN (+490) at the Grand Canal at Versailles. Great Britain’s Ros Canter, Laura Collett and Tom McEwen picked up that nation’s 1st gold in eventing team jumping Monday. Collett also collected a bronze in the individual eventing competition.

Great Britain’s trio of Scott Brash, Harry Charles and Ben Maher finished 3rd out of 10 qualifiers for Friday’s final. Maher won the individual gold medal in Tokyo, and he is competing in his 4th Olympics.

This is an experienced team which could help you nearly multiply up by 5 times.

The competition starts at 8 a.m. ET.

Men’s field hockey: DRAW (+340) Ireland vs. New Zealand

Ireland and New Zealand square off in a Pool B match, and each team is looking to get into the win column. So far, both teams are 0-0-4 (win-draw-losses).

Ireland opened with a 2-0 loss to Belgium (4-0-0) Saturday, and it was tripped up 2-1 against Australia (3-0-1) Monday. On Tuesday, Ireland lost 2-0 to India (2-1-1), and it was nipped 2-1 by Argentina (2-1-1) Wednesday.

New Zealand was topped 3-2 by India Saturday, lost to Belgium 2-1 Sunday, was blanked 2-0 by Argentina Tuesday and was stomped 5-0 by Australia Wednesday.

Both Ireland and New Zealand have had difficulty scoring. A DRAW (+340), for a chance to more than triple up, is worth a look in this matchup.

The match starts at 11 a.m. ET.

Men’s handball: SLOVENIA — WINNING MARGIN 1-5 (+178) vs. Japan

Japan (0 wins, 0 draws, 3 losses) limps into this match with a minus-16 goal differential, worst in Group A preliminary round play.

Slovenia (2-0-1) suffered a 25-22 loss to Spain (2-0-1) in the opening match Saturday. It then edged Croatia (2-0-1) by a 31-29 count, before stopping Sweden (1-0-2). However, Slovenia has a plus-4 goal differential, and winning by 6 or more is a rather tall order.

Last time out, Japan showed vast improvement, falling 37-33 in a high-scoring battle against Spain. Naoki Fujisaka and Kosuke Yasuhira each managed 7 goals in the narrow loss. Japan was an impressive 11-of-15 on 6 meter shots, too, while connecting for 6 successful goals from 9m.

It’s unlikely Japan knocks off Slovenia, it should be able to hang around in another potentially high-scoring battle. BACKING SLOVENIA on the WINNING MARGIN PROP of 1-5 GOALS pays a solid +178.

The competition starts at 1 p.m. ET.

Summer Olympics: France vs. Argentina odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s France vs. Argentina odds and lines, with expert Olympics men’s soccer picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The France battles Argentina Friday at Matmut Atlantique in Bordeaux, France. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. ET (Peacock). Below, we preview FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the France vs. Argentina odds, and make our expert Summer Olympic picks and predictions.

France, which came in 2nd in the World Cup at the international level in 2022, dominated the U23 group stage. As the hosts, France has won 2 of its 3 games by at least 3 goals. It kicked off Olympic play with a 3-0 win over the USMNT, which also cracked the knockout stage. France then beat Guinea 1-0 and New Zealand 3-0.

Neither France nor Argentina made the knockout stage in the 2020 Summer Olympics, an event won by Brazil.

Argentina, unlike France, had a rough start. Despite many of these players not being on the roster, Argentina-France is a repeat of the 2022 World Cup final, which Argentina won. In the Olympics, Argentina lost to Morocco 2-1 in the 1st match then took down Iraq 3-1 and Ukraine 2-0.

  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: +109 | U: -145)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

France vs. Argentina picks and predictions

Prediction

Argentina 1, France 0

Moneyline (ML)

TAKE ARGENTINA (+250).

There’s something to be said about having experienced players that have been in top knockout stage games before. F Julian Alvarez and D Nicolas Otamendi are the players over 23 year that are with Argentina, and the former was a key part in Argentina winning Copa America just a few weeks ago.

Argentina has a loss on its resume, but it had 7 more shots than Morocco. It then had back-to-back 2 goal wins. On the other hand, France beat up on the USMNT and then had a few dominant yet unimpressive victories.

France’s defense has struggled and has allowed 30 shots through its 3 matches. Expect a talented Argentina attack to break through a relatively untested French defense.

ARGENTINA (+250) is the way to go as the best value play here.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-145).

The Under, despite the expensive price, still has good value here. The defenses have been too good to assume the offenses will be able to consistently break through. Argentina has allowed 3 goals, 1 of which was a penalty kick, and it has allowed just 1 in its last 2 games. France has allowed 0 goals.

While both teams have scored with ease, this will be the most competitive game each has been a part of. In the 2020 Summer Olympics, 4 of the 6 games between the quarterfinals and semifinals went Under this total.

With both defenses having performed so far and the high intensity this game should have, take UNDER 2.5 (-145).

Summer Olympics: Morocco vs. USMNT odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Morocco vs. USMNT odds and lines, with expert Olympics soccer picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The USMNT battles Morocco Friday at Parc des Princes in Paris. Kickoff is set for 9 a.m. ET (USA Network / Telemundo / Peacock). Below, we preview FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Morocco vs. USWNT odds, and make our expert Summer Olympic picks and predictions.

The USMNT didn’t have a strong start to Olympic competition, losing 3-0 to France in Marseille July 24. The Americans followed by taking down New Zealand 4-1 Saturday and Guinea 3-0 Tuesday. This will be the first time the USMNT is in the Olympic knockout stage since 2000. MF Djordje Mihailovic, who plays for the Colorado Rapids, is the lone player that scored in both the USMNT’s last 2 matches.

Morocco beat Argentina 2-1 to start its Olympic competition — Argentina also qualified and will play France in the quarterfinals. It then lost to Ukraine 2-1 and finished off its group stage with a 3-0 victory over Iraq. F Soufiane Rahim, who plays for Al Ain, is a player to keep an eye on as he’s scored in each of Morocco’s Olympic Games.

Morocco vs. USMNT odds

Provided by FanDuel Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at Thursday, 6:58 p.m. ET.

  • Moneyline: Morocco +120 (bet $100 to win $120) | USWNT +210 (bet $100 to win $210) | Draw +240
  • Over/Under: 2.5 (O: -113 | U: -121)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Morocco vs. USMNT picks and predictions

Prediction

USMNT 1, Morocco 1

Moneyline (ML)

TAKE DRAW (+240).

While the tournament, to most viewers, appears as a U23 event, there are 3 exceptions per team, and the USMNT used those to bolster its backline, adding D Walker Zimmerman and D Miles Robinson, both of which will likely start. They will bring veteran experience and communication and will be help a red-hot USMNT. While the USMNT struggled in its only competitive match, Morocco hasn’t competed much better, failing to put away Ukraine.

Despite scoring 6 goals, 2 of those were from the penalty which isn’t likely to be repeated. It lost to Ukraine, throttled Iraq, and despite winning, had 7 fewer shots than Argentina. Morocco is a rightful favorite but isn’t that much better than the USMNT. This should be a competitive and tight match, giving value to the draw.

DRAW (+240) is the way to go.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET UNDER 2.5 (-121).

The USMNT has gone Over each game, but it has allowed just 1 goal in its last 2 and hasn’t played competent defenses. It was held scoreless in its 1st game against France.

Morocco has a similar story. It has allowed 3 goals while scoring 6, totaling just 3 of those against Ukraine and Argentina and ending with just 3 shots on frame against the latter.

The nature of the knockout stage typically suggests fewer goals. In the 6 games between the quarterfinals and semifinals of the 2020 Summer Olympics, 4 of those games went Under a 2.5 total. With the USMNT beefing up its defense with experience, expect fewer goals.

TAKE UNDER 2.5 (-121).

Thursday’s 2024 Olympics best bets

Odds provided by FanDuel Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday at 4:19 a.m. ET.

Men’s water polo: ROMANIA +6.5 (-122) vs. Croatia

In the pool, Romania (0-2) is looking for its 1st win when it faces Croatia (1-1) at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Romania was doubled up by Greece 14-7 Sunday in a preliminary round match, while falling 14-8 to the United States (1-1) Tuesday. With a match looming against powerful Italy (2-0) Saturday — Greece is also 2-0 — it’s imperative Romania finds a way to grind out a win to remain alive in pool play.

Croatia eased by winless Montenegro 11-8 Sunday, while holding its own against Italy in a 14-11 loss Tuesday. While the Croats are fully expected to win this match, laying more than 6 points is a rather tall order.

BACK ROMANIA +6.5 (-122) with the points.

As a bonus play, also BET UNDER 21.5 (-114) for the total, although it cannot be combined for a Same-Game Parlay (SGP) wager.

Romania is averaging just 7.5 goals per match (GPM) and has allowed 14.0 GPM in its 2 contests. Croatia is averaging 11.0 GPM on offense, while allowing 11.0 GPM on defense.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Men’s BMX racing — To win a medal: DIEGO OSPINA, Colombia (+200)

Colombia’s Diego Ospina can help you double up if he is able to get onto the podium.

Ospina is behind France’s Joris Daudet (-250), the 2024 UCI World Champion, France’s Romain Mahieu (-180), the 2023 UCI World Champion, and fellow Colombian Carlos Alberto Ramirez Yepes (+185) to secure a medal. It won’t take much for Ospina to find his way to at least a bronze, if not more.

The competition starts at 2 p.m. ET.

Men’s handball: NORWAY -0.5 (-102) vs. Egypt

This is a Friday matchup.

After Egypt (1 win, 1 draw, 1 loss) claimed an opening 35-32 win over Hungary (1-0-2), the Pharaohs have had a rough go of it, playing gold medal favorite Denmark (3-0-0) and host nation France (0-1-2). Now they must face gold medal contender Norway (3-0-0) Friday at 3 p.m. ET.

Egypt was getting buried by Denmark Monday, before making it respectable in a 30-27 setback while cover as a 5.5-point underdog. Two days later, Egypt allowed France to score at the buzzer for an emotional 26-26 draw — but the Pharaohs covered as 3.5-point dogs.

Egypt a sparkling 3-0 against the spread (ATS) in preliminary round play.

Norway (3-0-0) spanked Argentina 36-31 Saturday, before dropping France 27-22. It was forced to rally Wednesday for a 26-25 win over Hungary, but it failed to cover the spread for the first time in 3 tries.

Norway has been fairly consistent, and high-scoring. The Norwegians are the play, laying the half point, rather than playing the -136 draw-not-bet moneyline, for a slightly better value. However, even if Egypt falls into a hole, it has proven it plays to the final buzzer, and no deficit is too large.

BET NORWAY -0.5 (-102)

Summer Olympics: Australia vs. USWNT odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Australia vs. USWNT odds and lines, with expert Olympics soccer picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The USWNT (2-0-0) battles Australia (1-0-1) Wednesday at Orange Vélodrome in Marseille. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET (USA Network / Telemundo / Peacock). Below, we preview FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Australia vs. USWNT odds, and make our expert Summer Olympic picks and predictions.

The USWNT has had a dominant 2024, winning the SheBelieves Cup and the Concacaf Gold Cup. It won the Gold Cup with a 1-0 victory over Brazil March 10. It hasn’t had strong showings in international play, having lost early in the 2023 Women’s World Cup. However, it has a revamped roster that is finding its groove, beating Zambia 3-0 Thursday and then Germany 4-1 Sunday.

Australia, which was drawn in the USWNT group in the Olympics which took place in 2021, lost to Germany 3-0 Thursday before beating Zambia 6-5 Sunday. It drew the USWNT 1-1 in its last battle on Nov. 30, 2021. Australia has played 4 friendlies since March, beating Mexico 2-0 and China 2-0 while also drawing China 1-1 and losing to Canada 2-1. It sits 12th in the FIFA Women’s Rankings; the USWNT is No. 5.

Australia vs. USWNT picks and predictions

Prediction

USWNT 4, Australia 1

Moneyline (ML)

TAKE USWNT (-190).

Many would argue this is too expensive to take the USWNT and they may be right. The -190 juice is a steep price to pay, but the USWNT dominated a team (Germany) that dominated Australia. There’s no reason to think this team won’t be able to have a similar performance against Australia.

While it is still a young roster, both MFs Rose Lavelle and Lindsey Horan have triple-digit caps and should own the midfield, retaining possession and finding their forwards. That’s what happened as the USWNT ended with 56.4% possession against Germany, and it’s likely to happen again.

USWNT (-190) is the way to go.

Check out Pro Soccer Wire: For the American soccer fan, USA TODAY Sports Media Group’s website provides a fresh look at the beautiful game.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 3.5 (+130).

For the sake of value, this is the best play in the match.

The USWNT is coming off a game in which it put 4 on Germany and ended with 13 shots, just a few days after scoring 3 against Zambia. It has a quick and talented frontline, and against a team that gave up 5 goals to Zambia, it should be able to break through early and often.

Australia has tallied 6 goals in 2 Olympic games and scored in its last 6 games leading up to the global event. Five different women have scored in the Olympics for Australia, so it has numerous talented players.

Given the consistently on both attacks, TAKE OVER 3.5 (+130).

Men’s handball: EGYPT +3.5 (-120) vs. France

It’s a tall order for Egypt. Not only is it playing the host nation, Egypt is coming off a 30-27 loss to gold medal favorite Denmark.

The 3-goal loss could’ve been much worse. Denmark opened a 19-9 lead at halftime and led by double digits into the 2nd half before Egypt made a giant comeback.

In fact, Egypt shot 66% (27-of-41) to just 59% (30-of-51) for Denmark. The Egyptians were outstanding from 6 meters, too, hitting 68% (13-of-19). Egypt was able to cut the margin to just 2 goals at one point, but couldn’t get closer as it suffered its 1st loss.

The 3.5-goal line is a little bit high of a number considering the French just lost to Norway 27-22, and the never-say-die attitude of Egypt.

Men’s team sabre — To win a medal: USA (-155)

The American men are not quite the favorites for the gold medal in the men’s team sabre in fencing, but they have the 3rd-shortest odds (+430) behind South Korea (+160) and Hungary (+380).

However, Team USA is among the favorites to make the podium, receiving either gold, silver or bronze at the Grand Palais strip. Boston native Eli Dershwitz is the reigning sabre world champion.

Team USA will face Iran in the quarterfinals, and if it were to advance, it would face the winner of Hungary and Italy.

Men’s individual all-around gymnastics — Gold medal winner: ZHANG BOHENG, China (-105)

China’s Zhang Boheng is the favorite in this event, and he was so very crisp in the team competition. While Japan edged China out for the gold medal, Zhang is fully expected to secure the gold in the individual.

It’s likely China and Japan will battle again for gold in this event. Japan’s Daiki Hashimoto (+135 to win gold) and Zhang have quite the rivalry. Zhang edged Hashimoto for the world title in 2021, but Hashimoto secured the gold in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, holding off China’s Ziao Ruoteng, another contender in 2024.

Zhang is trying to become the first men’s individual gold medalist from China since Yang Wei earned gold in Beijing in 2008.

Men’s 3×3 basketball: LATVIA -1.5 (-106) vs. Lithuania

In the Men’s pool round of 3×3 basketball, Latvia looks to get off to a quick start in defense of its gold medal from the Tokyo games. Latvia matches up with fellow Baltic nation Lithuania at 12:35 p.m. ET.

Latvia will have Francis Lacis, Karlis Lasmanis, Nauris Miezis and Zigmars Raimo on the roster as it looks to successfully defend its gold medal in the inaugural Olympics competition of this event in the 2020 games. Lasmanis and Miezis were on the roster for gold in Tokyo, too.

The Latvians are tied with host France for the 3rd-shortest odds (+600) to win the gold medal behind co-favorites USA and Serbia (+170 each). On the flip side, Lithuania (+1400) has rather poor odds.

Back the defending champs, especially with the experienced Lasmanis and Miezis leading the charge.

Men’s 3×3 basketball: FRANCE -2.5 (-122) vs. Poland

The host nation gets underway at 4:05 p.m. ET at La Concorde, and the Poles aren’t expected to offer much resistance.

As mentioned above, France is tied with defending gold medalists Latvia (+600) for the 3rd-shortest odds to secure gold in Paris.

Poland (+4000) is the biggest long shot.

Lucas Dussoulier, Jules Rambaut, Franck Seguela and Timothe Vergiat comprise the roster for the French side. This assortment should get off to a quick start, especially with the backing of the home crowd, against a team not expected to do much. BET FRANCE -2.5 (+122).

Women’s 3×3 basketball: USA -5.5 (-122) vs. Germany

Team USA enters the event as the gold medal favorite, led by WNBA stars Dearica Hamby (LA Sparks) and Rhyne Howard (Atlanta Dream), TCU’s Hailey Van Lith and retired WNBA veteran Cierra Burdick. This game is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. ET.

Burdick, who played at the University of Tennessee 2011-15 before a 5-year WNBA career with 7 teams, was a member on the 2022 US World Cup team as well as the 2023 US World Cup champions in Vienna, along with Van Lith.

Van Lith transferred to TCU in the offseason after starring at Louisville for 3 seasons and at LSU her senior year last season.

The Americans also won gold in Santiago, Chile in the 2023 Pan American Games with Burdick on the roster.

Germany should serve as nothing more than a speed bump as Team USA gets off to a fast start in its quest for a 2nd consecutive gold medal.

2024 Olympics men’s golf odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing the golf odds to win the 2024 Olympics men’s golf, with picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The PGA Tour is off this week with 20 of the world’s top 50 players in  France for the 2024 Summer Olympics, which will feature a 4-day golf tournament. Le Golf National, which hosted the 2018 Ryder Cup, will be the venue for this week’s Olympics Men’s Golf event where Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and 58 other players will be teeing it up.

Below, we look at BetMGM Sportsbook’s 2024 Olympics Men’s Golf odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions.

Scheffler is the favorite to win gold this week in France, coming in with odds of +400. Xander Schauffele, winner of 2 major championships this season, has the 2nd-best odds at +550, followed by McIlroy (+850). Collin Morikawa, Jon Rahm and Ludvig Aberg all have +1100 odds to win the gold medal.

The Albatros Course at Le Golf National is a challenging track, one that comes with risk-reward opportunities. It features narrow fairways and, though it’s not the longest course, the penalizing rough emphasizes accuracy off the tee. This week, it will play as a par 71 and 7,331 yards.

Olympics men’s golf – Expert picks

Odds provided by BetMGM Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Monday at 3:56 p.m. ET.

Collin Morikawa (+1100)

It’s hard to believe Morikawa hasn’t won yet this season. He has 7 top-10s and 1 runner-up finish on the PGA Tour and he feels due for a victory soon. It may not be the major he’s seeking, but winning gold in France would be a fantastic accomplishment for the deadly accurate Morikawa – a great fit for Le Golf National with its setup.

Jon Rahm (+1100)

Rahm was on the fringe of contending at the Open and then followed it up by winning LIV Golf UK by 1 shot over Tyrrell Hatton. He’s playing some fine golf right now after what was a wildly disappointing performance in the 1st 3 majors and having played Le Golf National multiple times before, it could give him a slight edge. He finished 10th and 5th in the Open de France in 2017 and 2018 on the DP World Tour.

Xander Schauffele (+550)

With 2 majors on his resume this year, Schauffele is having as good a season as anyone on tour. He’s the defending gold medalist so he’s had experience playing Olympic golf before – not that it’s terribly different than any other event – and he could make it back-to-back victories this week.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Olympics men’s golf picks – Contenders

Beyong Hun An (+4500)

Le Golf National is a ball-striker’s course and An has been one of the game’s best in that department this year. He played in the 2015 Open de France and finished 20th so he’s seen the course before and had success here, something not many other players can say.

Alex Noren (+3300)

Noren played this course in the Open de France each year from 2016-19 and never finished worse than 18th, and winning the event in 2018. Even though he doesn’t have a win this year, Noren is playing some excellent golf. He’s 16th on tour in SG: tee-to-green and 7th around the greens, which are 2 key metrics for winning on this course.

Olympics men’s golf picks – Long shots

Thorbjorn Olesen (+10000)

Olesen has played the Open de France at Le Golf National 5 times since 2015, highlighted by a 3rd-place finish in 2017 and a T-10 last year. His ball-striking numbers have not been very good this season (129th tee-to-green),  but his experience on this course could lead to him catching lightning in a bottle.

Guido Migliozzi (+8000)

Migliozzi is playing relatively well right now, having won the KLM Open on the DP World Tour in June and finishing 31st in the Open Championship a couple of weeks ago. He won the Open de France at this very course just 2 years ago, which shouldn’t be overlooked.
